Order of photos in "Descendants by Generation"
Hi. I have a specific question please concerning the order in which photos are displayed in report "Descendants by Generation". On screen it shows the photos (up to three to a line) above the relevant name. One of my individuals had two wives. I only have two photos for the first one (a) and three f...

Multimedia record
Hi again. I had linked a group photo successfully to the five individuals shown. However, I then realized that one of them uses their other name, so I changed all records (ie: Title, File etc.) but now I get "unable to load.." even though all records show the same. What have I still to do please?

Re: Deleting sources
Thankyou for your answers. I tried BillH's solution and it worked. Prior to that it still showed as "She was baptised in.....", now it doesn't. but I still seem to have the same number of links to the source record. I must get a plug-in.

Deleting sources
Hi, I have a particular baptism source record which has a number of links. I have one link which is not now correct and I would like to delete it. I have clicked on the particular person's source record icon and deleted the citation. However, when looking at "Publish Ancestors by Generation", the ba...

Re: AS problems
Just for interest on the mention of AV. I have had AS V4 on my computer for quite a number of years. Then this week Norton suddenly decided that it didn't like it and removed it. Very odd!!

Re: Preparing a book for printing
Good morning Mike, How coincidental; in the middle of the night I thought I would try it in three separate lots of 33 pages each. It worked! I wonder now if it might have worked had I not reduced a lot of the photos: I'll never know. I hope the printer is OK with the three lots, now on one memory st...

Re: Preparing a book for printing
Further to above, I have tried printing again in smaller chunks, but I have had a couple of occasions where photos are completely removed, captions as well, and the remaining photos re-arranged. When I've gone back into the "book" itself, the photos are missing. The only way I've found to re-instate...

Re: Preparing a book for printing
Jane, I have been working on this problem, but it seems every step I take forwards, I am sent two steps back. I thought it was something to do with the size of the photos which I have linked to, so I reduced a lot of their sizes from 1-6MB down to 300-600KB or in those sorts of figures. In doing so ...

Re: Preparing a book for printing
Jane, I did what you instructed 1-30 then 31-60 appending the second to the first. The first lot was fine, but the second still has 5 subtitles without photos.

Re: Preparing a book for printing
Hi Jane, I have read Bill's reply, but can't find any Family Historian PDF file in the project folder. I suspect that nothing was created. I have tried "Start" on the computer with the query "PDF" with the same result. Sorry, but I'm going to need more step by step help through this problem please. ...

Re: Preparing a book for printing
Hi Bill, thanks for your interest. I certainly will report this to Calico Pie, but that's not going to help me in the short-term. In the meantime, I'm having trouble with the "printing" to PDF. Not being technically minded, I'm confused with the panels "Print", "Printer setup" and "Save Book as". If...

Re: Preparing a book for printing
Hi Bill and Jane, I will try as you suggest. I assume that I go into Print Set up and change printer to Family Historian PDF. I can't however see anywhere where I stipulate which pages are to be "printed". When I find out, I guess that I will have to put each run (1-50 and 51-103) under different he...

Re: Preparing a book for printing
Hi Jane, I'm not actually printing, I am merely trying at this stage to save this project as a PDF file so that I can transfer it to a memory stick to take to a printer. But until I can get the PDF right, I'm hamstrung. I have reduced the size of some of the photos to which the files are linked (cou...

Preparing a book for printing
I have now completed the compilation of my book. I saved it as a PDF file, but horror of horrors many of the photos are missing. Their subtitles are there, but not the photos. Have I done something wrong, or not done something? Help please.

Re: Text in books
Hi Mike, Sorry not to reply sooner, but I have been away from home for a couple of days. Anyway, I again followed your instructions. I currently have the Custom Report named "Pending Ingamells Book", but that continued the problem when I included it in the "Book". However, when I named the Custom Re...

I did what you suggested, but the error is still there. In the Custom Report, the addresses are fine. But in the book, not. Help. John

Re: Text in books
Hi again. The problem I had was in a Custom Report (Descendants by Generation Dialogue) preparatory to including it in my book. The solution suggested by Jane worked OK, but now that I have included it as part of the book, the same problem exists - shortened addresses. I included it in the book by g...

Text in books
Hello again. In my book project I have noticed that in many (but not all) cases small amounts of information are missing in the text, although they do appear in the property dialogue. For example, places of birth or marriage are shown in the PD as say- Carlton, Vic., but in the book text just as Car...

Re: Publish Book
I already have it as a Custom Report, but changing the value right down to 20 did nothing. As there is no cut and dried way of doing this, I think I shall just leave things be. Perhaps in future versions there might be more tools. Thankyou for your help Mike. Cheers.

Re: Publish Book
I did try what you suggest, changing the value from 99 to 120 and back to 80 and 60, but saw no apparent difference with any of these. Most of my entries have a row of the descendant A's photos, a row of their spouse's photos, both their details and a list of their children. The page break can occur...
