FH on Ubunto- Linux

Hi DeeJay1, About 3 months have passed since your post.  How is FH now running within Wine on Linux?  Would you kindly post an update?  Had you previously run FH under Windows?  If so what differences have you noticed?  Do you also run Gedcom Census this way? I am a wannabe Linux user, not yet a new...

Toponymy Version 2.2

It was in the FULL PAGE article on Toponymy Version 2.2 that I was looking for a download link. Eventually, I found the hotspot 'Toponymy Version 2.2' (in brown type) in body of the article, about two thirds of the way down, after my earlier posting but before reading Chris Bowker's reply. In fact, ...

Toponymy Version 2.2

I have just downloaded Gedcom Census okay using the download hotspot on its page.

I would like to use this Toponymy BUT I cannot see a button or a hotspot to download it. I have also checked the Downloads page.

Am I becoming visually impaired or am I just dense?

How can I obtain this applet?

How do I add a grandchild when I don't know parent

I too have followed Jane's principals CASE 1 A 21 year old daughter named Hannah PATTERSON is shown in the 1881 census.  I the 1901 census a 19 year old granddaughter named Hannah PATTERSON is recorded.  This grandaughter uses her grandfather's surname and there isn't any indication as to her father...

1841 Census and before

Thank-you to you, David Lewis for this suggestion which I have followed.  Unfortunatly, the Mormon database doesn't confirm his marriage for which we have a certificate, UNLESS 1) The Census entry is incorrect and he was born in County Durham. 2) He was previously married and the IGI is showing this...

1841 Census and before

Thanks for this. We have used http://www.durhamrecordsonline.com/newsearch.php but does this work when he was born before 1837? He is our g-g-grandfather and seems to have been born in 1799. The 1841 site has both him and his wife as being 20 years old although ages on the 1841 census should be trea...

Deleting Fields

I also have a few custom events which I thought that I needed at the time that I created them.  As I become more familier with FH I found them superflous and so deleted the custom event in each individual's record and used a 'proper' FH event instead. I can't find seem to be able to delete the custo...

1841 Census and before

Unlike later census the 1841 does not give the place of an individuals birth.  It just shows Y or N for whether the person was born in 'that' county.  In this case its County Durham. Myself and two 2nd/3rd cousin researchers are looking for a common ancestor but don't know where to go from here othe...

Tips from Simon

At last - one frustration over.
BUT (I hesitate before nit-picking) in Explorer and other Windows listing utilities this is achieved by double-clicking on the column headings.
