Re: Rearrange address and place 1.7 errors
Mike Have been using the new version of the plugin with the much reduced list of place list with great success and the ability to pre-select the places to update before calling the plugin is a great help. Mind at times creating a query to produce the list can be fun! It is often a case of - is it qu...

Re: Rearrange address and place 1.7 errors
Helps to re-read before you post late at night after a busy day!
Decided that the easiest way to resolve those mystery ones is to do them manually - thankfully only about 150 or so that I have found so far!

Re: Rearrange address and place 1.7 errors
Mike I am beginning to tear my hair out as I am obviously doing something wrong but can't for the life on me see what I have managed to reduce the number of place names from 49,000 plus to just over 21,000 by blanking the first parts using merging and clear as you suggested but there are still some ...

Re: Rearrange address and place 1.7 errors
Victor I have been researching for over 40 years, have taught family history and have been lecturing on it for over 20 years and regularly talk about what you mention. Whilst I take your point it has nothing to do with the original question that I raised I am trying to sort out someone else's FH fil...

Re: Rearrange address and place 1.7 errors
Mike Thanks for the response and not a surprise I suppose as I thought that was the issue I hadn't realised that you could feed the plugin that way Doing it that way generates another issue - which I have seen the solution to anyway - off adding the {xxx} to the end of each So it looks like the work...

Re: Rearrange address and place 1.7 errors
As additional information The database has come from TMG via a Gedcom import - I am well aware of the direct import but because of the mess in TMG it was found that Gedcom gave a better import of the data The person whose database this is put the BMD reference (Volume/page) into first part of the pl...

Rearrange address and place 1.7 errors
I am trying to help someone sort out the places in their large database 66,000+ people 20,000+ families 49,000+ places (address not used) Running the plugin produces the list of places and presents the mapping screen I am simply trying to blank place1 on selected records Change to the input filter i...

Re: Recording an Inquest
I have just just stumbled onto what might be a rarity on the Ancestry website (mind has been there for nearly 10 years!) in the "West Yorkshire, England, County Coroner Notebooks, 1852-1909" and the database entry says it is about 19,000 records. It is the only one for the UK and there are only a co...

Re: Change any Fact plugin
Mike Downloaded the new version and works fine However, whilst it is processing progress bar reaches 100% at individual ID's around 8000 but there are 65,000 in the database It carries on and some might be concerned as to what it is processing when it says that it is complete Change-Fact-Plugin1.jpg

Mike
Thanks for the explanation.
I have changed it to at sea (Sulawesa Tengah; Indonesia)
Something I picked on in a comment of Simon's somewhere which means it fits a single part in the place name

Be interesting to see how it copes with a database of 65,000 people and 135,000 facts

Change any Fact plugin
I am trying to help a friend sort out his import from TMG and struggling to get this plug-in to work Facts.jpg The list of fact might give an idea of the issue and I going to go into lengthy discussions as to why as not really relevant I am trying to change each of the census entries to the standard...

Thanks that fixed the problem
However, all the entries with a "(" have a closing one ")"
But I did notice this one
, , , at sea (Sulawesa Tengah, Indonesia)
and wondered if the "," in the middle would throw it out?

Re: Find in Place List
Helen Thanks for those Should have remembered =TextPart(%_PLAC.TEXT%,1,1) - but not something I use that often Whilst the Alt-V-L is useful it is, as you say, not as good as where used which gives you the events and dates as well as just the the names with the shortcut gives Back to my initial reque...

Re: Find in Place List
Adrian I have used the Rearrange Address and Place Parts, plugini successfully to do the initial sort out after importing from TMG However with a database of 25,000 place names doing things the way you suggest would take to long It is fine for moving fields but then to my mind there is one thing mis...

Adding multiple marriages in AS
The Ancestry website recently added the parish records for both East and West Sussex. This has resulted in over 100 marriages that I now need to add the full details for on my one-name study However with a database of over 35,000 people and 15,000 sources it takes a while ot open every time in AS I ...
