Facts Residence
After seven years of adding information to Family Historian I have at last started to write up my family history. I am using various reports and my family find 'resident in'too formal. They would prefer 'lived at.' Is there a formula that would allow me to do this?'Yours hopefully,Jen.

If not what family tree websites would you recommend? Another relative has put his tree on rootsweb.Very generous of him as it is helping s...

Missing relatives in the All Individual list.
Can't believe I received the answer to my problem so quickly. Thanks so much Nick. I discovered two identically named files in two different folders. Trial and error showed which was the correct file.Goodness knows how this all came about.
Best wishes Jennifer

Missing relatives in the All Individual list.
I have used gedcom census successfully with Family Historian in the past but have just realised that the latest additions to my gedcom are not appearing in the All Individual window of the gedcom census screen. As a result I cannot add them to the census entry list. I have downloaded the recent Gedc...

Problem solved. The original sender of the photos is, like me, a silver surfer. She sought help from her student daughter who sent the photos in jpeg format.

Problem opening photos sent by email
Thanks for promt replies and your help. I have right clicked as advised but 'open with' does not appear as an option. I have emailed back to my newly found relative and asked her whether she could send the photos in jpeg format.
Will seek further help if that does not work

Research experiment - what is this name?
I would suggest Emma Nun. I have just been transcribing a family will. All the capital letters start with the same squiggle then have the actual letter attached at the end.

You are right Alan other people's research can save lots of time and I should have said that I am full of admiration for experienced researchers who share information for free on the internet following hours of searching, transcribing and checking facts. Two wonderful researchers have put one branch ...

Unreliable secondary source material
Years ago as a trainee history teacher I was strongly advised not to trust secondary source material for research. There are many well meaning amateur genealogists who transcribe original source material and publish it on the internet for the benefit of others.I recently came across transcript mater...

Is it possible to see the whole tree at once?
Have installed my new Family Historian Programme and am thrilled that it is so easy to use. One thing though. On my old programme I could view the whole tree and scroll through it. On FH3 I find that it only seems to show relatives of a person who has been highlighted. Am I missing something or have...

Thanks for advice. The support for FH is fantastic. I was feeling a bit nervous about using the programme and wondering if I had been wise to buy it. Cannot wait for tomorrow's post so that I can get started.

I havelimited experience with genealogy software.
Expecting delivery of FHv£ tomorrow.
Has anyone any tips about what to do when I first start the programme. Experience is that a mistake on first use of a programme can lead to problems later.

Have just purchased FHv3 online and expect delivery tomorrow. I downloaded my paternal family tree from a relative via Genopro. Has anyone any experience of importing the Genopro gedcom to Family historian?
