Re: Map usages
Why not try a Freepages site from Rootsweb (http://accounts.rootsweb.ancestry.com/i ... eagree.htm). It won't "die with your credit card" and allows the use of CSS and Javascript. I've been using it for about 10 years with absolutely no problems.

Re: How do you organise your Paper Records?
As any record is a source, I file everything in folders in source numeric order (100 sources to a folder). Thus for any source, I can just take its number and refer to the appropriate record in the file. I name each source by its type; thus Certificate - Birth : Individual's Name; Certificate - Deat...

I'd also like to say thanks to Jane for all her hard work with the site. We are so fortunate to have her doing this voluntarily. The effort must sometimes be exhausting. To Jane herself, I'm looking forward to meeting you at Parramatta, Australia in February (I'm booked in but some medical treatment...

I've just found the link to my web site in the KB. I note you have listed the site as Owen Jones (2 words) not OwenJones (1 word) as originally advised. I can't seem to find any way to change it. The primary software used to create the site is GED-GEN, http://www.ged-gen.com/

Restore from a FH2.2 backup zip file
I seem to recall that the .zip files in early versions of Historian were not 'real' .zip files in that they had a different structure. This may be the problem. You might have to contact Calico Pie for help.

Ian I am not clear as to how you link a picture (in my case a census) to all the family members Have you considered attaching the image to the Census source rather than each individual? Then you only have to attach a single image. Are you using Ancestral Sources for entering your Census data? This ...

Sorry Mike. I quoted the value not the attribute. I was just pointing this out but it's not a big deal. All browsers (maybe even all versions) recognise target as an attribute, so the pages will render properly and go to a new tab. As you suggest, one workaround is for the Plugin to substitute tar...

Marriage Info Row In Focus Window
If you click on your 'Married 9 October 1970', it will show you the Property Box (if you have it docked) with the place showing. This is only a compromise but at least you can see the place (but not the address - you have to select the Facts tab for that).

Try PrimoPDF (http://www.primopdf.com/). It has an option to 'append to existing document'. Take care when installing to untick all the various addon options.
There's a user guide at http://www.primopdf.com/pdfs/PrimoPDF_V5_User_Guide.pdf which also has download and installation instructions

Entering Electoral Rolls
I see the Australian Electoral Rolls as a source from which facts (residence, co-residence and occupation) can be derived. As such I create a source with the name e.g. Electoral Roll : Federal (Eden-Monaro); State (Wollondilly); Sub-Division (Moss Vale) In the Text from Source field I show the actu...

Revising a GED file for sending to family
It is a pity that this could not be done from a Descendant chart where visually ypu could pull off and save John, you can create a named list from selected members of a chart and then create a GEDCOM from that list. 1. Create your chart and then hold down the left mouse button and draw a rectangle ...
