Trim date & Place Fields Plugin

After using the split tree helper I'm now using the above Plugin to scale down my family tree ready for exporting at some point. I'm a bit confused by the drop down lists for the Select Trim Place and address Fields mode for the columns, being 'delete all columns or keep last or keep last or 1, 2, 3...

Re: Uploading Gedcom to Find my Past

Yes, I did think about doing that Mark, thank you. I'm going to spend some time going through it all over the next few days or so, before I decide whether or not to go ahead.

Re: Uploading Gedcom to Find my Past

Thanks Mike, When I used the split tree helper, I was left with a number of facts that I didn't want to upload on Gedcom, but I chose the delete all facts option, I realised afterwards of course it that it also deleted all the dates of births, marr and deaths. So I had to start all over again! :P I ...

Re: Uploading Gedcom to Find my Past

Thanks again for your help Mike, to be honest, I'm not sure now if I want to go ahead with exporting it to Find my Past. Although I've been researching my family tree for many years, I've never put my tree on Ancestry or Find my Past, I have a very basic tree I put on Tribal Pages ages ago, but didn...

Uploading Gedcom to Find my Past

I'm now trying to export a Gedcom file of my side of the family with just the bare essentials, I don't really want to include exact dates for BMD something like 1900-1970 would be great, is this possible? thanks

Re: Splitting projects

Hi Mike, yes, what's happened is that I followed the "Splitting my husband's side of the family away from mine (17136) as before, but i think I must have gone wrong somewhere, but don't know where. His side of the family is all good. It's my side that's causing the problem. The main point this time ...

Family Historian Sample Project

I've moved my Family Historian program and project files from one pc to another using the back up and restore plugin and although it seemed to go well, I noticed that the above is missing from the project window. I just have my family tree showing, obviously something isn't quite right but I'm not s...

Re: Uninstalling AS from Back up and Restore plug in

Yes, I do know how to uninstall the Ancestral Sources program and the data entry plugin and have done so.

I'll go through the rest one by one. Thank you :)

Re: Uninstalling AS from Back up and Restore plug in

Ahh, ok thank you, I noticed there was a folder in my janesfamilytree.fh_data & plug in called Ancestral Sources and as I don't use it anymore thought it was pointless being there.

Uninstalling AS from Back up and Restore plug in

Hoping for some advice about how to uninstall the above. I haven't used this excellent program for a good few years but I did for some of my earlier census and parish records when I was new to FH. What will happen to them if I uninstall them and how do I go about doing this? :) Many thanks.

Re: Ticket of Leave

That seems to work for both facts. Thank you.
The sentence on the facts tab:
His Legal Judgement was Ticket of Leave on 26 April 1869 in Fremantle
His Legal Judgement was Certificate of Freedom on 10 April 1874

Re: Back up and Restore Family Historian Settings

If I understand correctly then the only customisation files I can think of before doing my last back up was for several charts files so am I right in thinking that FH would manage these, so I select the Keep New Data option?

Re: Back up and Restore Family Historian Settings

Thanks Mike, I've now got to the next stage in the Restore Tab, which gives me four options to choose from:
Copy Old Backup File
Keep New Program Data File
Copy Old Files
Keep All New Files

Not sure which one to opt for? :?

Back up and Restore Family Historian Settings

My hard drive packed up a couple of days ago and I'm in the process of restoring FH from my back up. (D) I've successfully re-installed and opened my project with no issues, however I need to restore my custom settings using the above plug in. I've stopped short of the restore because I'm a bit unsu...

Re: Splitting my husband's side of the family away from mine

I've checked Lorna, and your correct, my mother and father are not listed, or my grandparents. If I use the "Pool All Relatives Except Partner Ancestors" Plugin will I need to start all over again?

When I run this plugin do I leave all the boxes ticked? I'm reaching for another wine bottle again!
