Re: Understanding the Scope of Features

They are consistent -- both alphabetical.

[Yes, but for different columns, which means they are inconsistent! The 1st table is alphabetical on Family Historian Project Folder right-hand column. The 2nd table is alphabetical on the Items left-hand column.]

Re: Issue with Lumped Source Splitter

I believe the lua garbage collection approach changed between 5.1 and 5.3 but don't quote me on it.

Re: Issue with Lumped Source Splitter

I asked because it sounds like a difference between lua 5.1 and 5.3… not an fh issue. Assuming you're using the same api calls.

Re: Possible Source Driven Data entry bug for Baptism

Mike, Autotext is not processed in any way when it's used within FH, just copied on demand into a note, research note, text from source etc.

Token substitution within Autotext for plugins is the responsibility of the plugin author.

Re: Possible Source Driven Data entry bug for Baptism

Version 1.5 is now in the plugin store. You will need to delete the existing Autotext templates for this plugin, via: 1. Tools > Manage Autotext > Autotext for Plugins, 2. Expand Record Baptism Data (England and Wales) 3. Select and delete any existing autotext templates for the plugin, e.g. Baptism...

Re: Possible Source Driven Data entry bug for Baptism

None of the standard field codes work as you would expect in plugin text templates, Mike, but the code should substitute YYYY with the year from the date.. Can somebody provide me with an example of the data entry please?

Re: Possible Source Driven Data entry bug for Baptism

Can you post an example of the data entry screen showing how you've specified the date so I can take a look at what's gone wrong -- that plugin is one of mine, not Calico Pie's.

Re: Calling a plugin from a plugin (again...)

It's also an issue of trust, of course. The common 3rd party libraries are widely enough used that any malicious content would have been found by now. Plugins that go into the store are reviewed for malicious code before they're approved, ditto the snippets. Personally I wouldn't want to use code th...

Re: Calling a plugin from a plugin (again...)

Ron, plugins from the store have to be self contained except for the commonly used libraries which are supplied with FH7 or made available via load require in Fh6 (where appropriate).

Re: Weird Tab behaviour

Somebody can die at age 0 but not be Stillborn. I recently discovered an aunt of whom that was true - born alive died within an hour. She would recorded as died age 0 not Stillborn and I am very certain that hour made a huge difference to her parents Stillborn is death before or during birth not age 0

Re: Weird Tab behaviour

It's being trialled via a 'soft release' process - available if someone downloads it but not publicised except to people who had reported bugs that it fixes. If there's nothing spectacularly wrong with it it will eventually become visible if you check for updates.

From memory Age at birth caters for the special case of Stillborn so isn't really daft

Re: Updating existing FH records with data from CSV

Mike, Saving settings globally would be a great help -- starting from scratch in a new project is a pain at present. However, the ability to have 'named sets' of customised settings would also be good -- for example, if you're experimenting with settings for one of the export modes, but want to reme...

Re: Updating existing FH records with data from CSV

Mark, thanks for mentioning the need to remember various options for the Export Gedcom plugins for various destinations. Mike, I may have missed this functionality if it already exists (and if so, apologies) but it would be really useful to remember the customised options I've used for different des...

Re: Occupation in main fact box

This works OK for an individual but is it not possible to use the preferred fact for the whole tree of people as a blanket choice say of the last occupation rather than first? I've got over 30000 people in my tree and this will work even harder! The flag has to be set on specific facts. It might be...

Re: Occupation in main fact box

It actually defaults to the earliest occupation, whether that came from a census or elsewhere. Use the 'Preferred' fact flag in V7 to choose which occupation it displays on the Main tab of the Property Box.

Upgrade to FH7 first. Upgrade to AS 7.2 next -- and certainly before you use AS the first time after you've upgraded FH.

os.getenv('APPDATA') -- roamng data -- or os.getenv('LOCALAPPDATA' ) Are you coding for every woman and her cat? Or just for you -- in which case you could extrapolate from USERPROFILE for the desktop and documents folders (actually, you could probably do this for everyone in a Windows environment)....

Re: luacom

I lied -- it didn't take much time. local osEnv = {} for line in io.popen("set"):lines() do envName = line:match("^[^=]+") osEnv[envName] = os.getenv(envName) end Give you a table of the names and values of environment varialbe. Credit where it's due: https://stackoverflow.com/a/29716746/1943174
