Installing FH on new coputer
I have just purchased a new computer with Windows 7 installed. I have the FH3 disc which is not installed at the moment. Should I install FH3 and then download the FH5 update or is it easiest to purchase the new FH5 disc straight away.

Re: Loss of Project
I followed your instructions exactly and when I got to the folder "Graham Buss Version 4 Family Tree.fh_data" I found an old dated file stating Graham Buss Version 4 Family Tree.fh_proj by the side of the folder. Underneath it says Family History Project File. I tried to open this file but...

Loss of Project
I have 3 projects on the go. When I open Family Historian it of course goes straight to the Project Window. 2 of the projects have the correct date that I opened them last but the one I use most says " last updated 01/01/1970". It was in fact last week. When I try to open it a message says...

Grandfather
Could anyone help with this problem which I'm sure is somewhere in the help manual but I can't find it. My Grandfather (T) had a mother (E) who was married to (J) but he was not the father of (T). From later documents we believe the father of (T) was (W) who was in fact the brother of (J). My questi...

Update to version 4
Jane I have the original Version 3 with the update disc for version 4. Should I install both? Sorry I didn't see what file. The only extra bit of information was that I had Family Historian open when I first tried to run the update, but I closed it before I tried the second run. Would this have made...

Update to version 4
I have just opened Family Historian and a message came up to say there was update to version 4, (02 I think). I downloaded the update and then ran it as it said. An error message came up and gave me 3 alternatives retry, abort or ignore (not recommended) so I retried but still the same message, so I...

Sorry Jane but I'm completely confused now. I have deleted the project from V4 and started again. I have opened a new project. It says do I wish to import from another source and asks me for a file name. The version 3 one which I last edited on 11-07-09 is the one I put into this block earlier but i...

Hello Rob I am new to the Family Historian package and am not really that computer literate so sorry but I don't know what a text editor is and therefore don't know where to start. I forgot to say on my original e-mail that this all occurred when I was inserting a photo and by mistake I pushed the C...

Over the passed few weeks I have gratually been placing a photograph of each person in my family tree. Just now I opened the previous version and the photographs were all there. I then added a new one, as I have done before, and suddenly all the photos are not there and instead there is just a large...

My father (A) has a brother (B). There are 2 girls, my Mother (C) and her Aunt (D). (A) marries (C) and (B) marries (D). When I put them in the family tree there are 2 blocks for (B) and (D). How can I make them as only one or is this not possible? Hope this makes sense. As you can see my Aunt is my...
