fh.exe (V7) refuses to run
This may be one for Calico Pie, but I thought I'd ask here first. I upgraded to FH7 and AS7 a couple of days ago. Having done the upgrade, I started the two programs, just to prove they had installed OK, but did not attempt to access any data at that point. Today, I have copied my V6 project structu...

FH V7 - switch from 32-bit to 64-bit?
I've just purchased FH7 Upgrade, and run it in a fit of enthusiasm. But then I realised it had installed as 32-bit in D:\Program Files (x86). My PC is running W10 64-bit, V 20H2, build: 19042.630, installed on 7/12/2020. Is there any way to reinstall FH7 as 64-bit instead or am I, as I suspect, stuc...

Re: Handling Custom Flags in a plugin
Fundamentally, I wonder why ":Y" is appended to the Display Text for a Flag in the first place? It might be interesting to know why Flags are handled differently - the ":Y" presumably serves some internal purpose? It might it be something that could be utilised in a plugin if we knew its purpose. Bu...

Re: Handling Custom Flags in a plugin
Thanks for that Mike, very helpful (and pleased it interested you!). It perhaps also gives a clue why my initial attempt using fhGetItemText() just returned a "Y". ptrFlag:MoveToFirstChildItem(ptrFLGS) while not ptrFlag:IsNull() do local strFlagText = fhGetItemText(ptrFlag, "~.") print(strFlagText.....

Handling Custom Flags in a plugin
I'm attempting to write my first plugin. I want to sort an Individual's Flags into ascending alphanumeric sequence. My though was to loop through the INDI records, llocate the _FLGS tag (if present), then load the Flags themselves into a table, sort that and then replace the Flags back in the file. ...

Re: Updated email address
Unfortunately, the email address I thought I'd registered with, and which I want to unsubscribe, doesn't seem to be the right one. I've tried unsubscribing with a range of likely candidates, none of which work. It'll be <something> @jamesfamily.vispa.com but I can't remember the <something> part. I ...

Updated email address
I have changed my email address in my FHUG profile, but I'm still receiving FHUG emails (e.g. "the week's active discussion topics in the FHUG Forums") on my old email address.
Why? Have I failed to update something somewhere?

Backup&Restore FH Settings plugin with Hardlinks in Dropbox
Does the plugin have an option to backup/restore ONLY the registry settings/customisations? I ask because I'm considering using LSE Hardlinks with Dropbox to sync all the file-based settings. In that scenario, only the registry-based settings/customisations would need to be manually transferred/sync...

Re: Backup & Restore FH Settings plugin and FH 6.2.0
I purchased the "Family Historian (Download)" license from the FH website. But that just says "Software is the latest version (6.0)." on the download webpage http://www.family-historian.co.uk/store/download-page , and the download link in the email points to the 30 day trial version which, as I said...

Re: Backup & Restore FH Settings plugin and FH 6.2.0
I downloaded and installed the trial version, which is already at 6.2.0, and bought a full license because previously I'd had a chain of version upgrades/keys, which was becoming unwieldy. Can I safely regress to 6.1.4 having already installed 6.2? When I last used FH it was a regular discussion poi...

Backup & Restore FH Settings plugin and FH 6.2.0
Mike, is the current live version of the Backup & Restore FH Settings (v2.4 1st April 2016) OK to run against FH 6.2.0 (it mentions updates as far as v6.1)? Will it update settings in files and registry? Background: I'm cautiously setting up a new Windows 10 desktop to replace a venerable WinXP desk...

Out of date item in the FHUG marquee
Having at long last got into a position to update FH to v6 on our (now replaced) aged desktop, and having installed AS 5.1.3 alongside it, I logged onto the FHUG website for the first time in a very long time, and the out-of-date item for Ancestral Sources in the scrolling marquee/banner immediately...

Correct name in Narrative Reports
Ouch. Transcription error. Expression should have read: =Text(%INDI.NAME:FIRST% . ' ' . TextIf(IsEmpty(%INDI.~SPOU[last-1]>NAME%),%INDI.NAME:SURNAME%,Text(%INDI.~SPOU[last-1]>NAME:SURNAME% . How about something like: =Text(%INDI.NAME:FIRST% . ' ' . TextIf(IsEmpty(%INDI.~SPOU[last]>NAME%),%INDI.NAME:SURNAME%,Text(%INDI.~SPOU[last]>NAME:SURNAME% . ' (née ' . %INDI.NAME:SURNAME% . Installation to a disk other than C:
It is often recommended practice to have a second drive for user-installed applications and application data, and keep the C: drive for system software and data as far as possible. I have a two-disk system, and try to put user-installed applications on the second disk (whenever they will let me). Ca...

V5 Exception Report
Rob, Jane, Mike, thank for your help. In case it provides a modicum of help for others, the errors in my project (as reported above) were of two types: An error in the TYPE field of an ASSO record ('Associated Person' relationship). Looks like an earlier version of FH erroneously allowed the TYPE f...

V5 Exception Report
I have just purchased and installed the upgrade to FH V5, upgrading a full version installation of V4.
