Printing diagrams
I now have a printer that can print A3 and even with that size I shall be printing a 22 sheet tree. I tried printing two pages as a trial and the right hand page printed fine. However the left hand page did not print as the preview and instead of matching up on the right hand side, printed everythin...

Generation row height
All the examples in the tutorial show a generation row height equal to one box. I seem to have rows that are three boxes in height and for the life of me I cannot see where this is controlled. How does one alter this back to one please?

Full name and surname in ged file are different
I think I may know why Further analysis shows that this field is only on the first fifty or so names and they were ones imported from the LDS program. As other systems seem to use the information stored in SURN where it appears, can the lines safely be deleted from the gedcom file as also the UID nu...

Full name and surname in ged file are different
Never noticed this before, but it came to light when I uploaded my gedcom file to ancestry. I have a number of ancestors where the names were spelt differently in different generations, and when I have got actual proof from GRO cert or parish records, I have corrected them. I end up with the entry a...

I have three very closely linked families in my family tree where several marriages took place between them. I can produce a narrative report to include them all, but how do I get a corresponding diagram. If I highlight the earliest member of each of the families, the diagram buttom is greyed out. H...

Thanks Simon, Yes resetting the diagrams to default solved the problem - not a thought which would have occurred to me, for one would expect the saved jpeg (or other) file to mirror what appears on the screen. One of those mysterious things that happens with computers. I am happy because I now have ...

Confirm - my version 2.3.5. I have reset the diagram options to installation but saved a copy first and I see that some of the dimensions were changed. I do not understand however how the family tree saved version differs so much from the viewed version. I have attached my original settings for refe...

Duplication of diagram entries
I have two occasions in my family tree where cousins married. Under each line of the family there are matching entries of the husband and wife, so the entries are duplicated. Their children are also duplicated and so on. How does one remove these duplications in the family tree diagrams?

I tried the copy option - then pasted that into a graphics program and again the top line is hidden by the text box.

Either Hewlett Packard Laserjet 2200D or Deskjet 970Cxi - I get exactly the same problem with either - both are fully graphics enabled printers.

saving diagrams as graphics file
Having prepared a narrative report I now wish to add a graphics file of the tree, to send to other members of the family. The graphics file saves OK, but all the top lines of the text - name etc - are obscured by the boxes. If I remove the boxes, half of the top line is still obscured by white. Long...

Narrative reports
The narrative reports are good (if a little stilted) and it does not take much effort to edit them into a reasonable format. However I question the use of the numbering system. Would it not be better to use the generation as a prefix ie 1.01, 1.02 etc the next generation being 2.01, 2.02 etc. It wou...

I have read through past forum entries and am just as confused as ever. Let us take a simple marriage - I can find that it occurred in Wandsworth Dec 1877 and the ref is 1a789 - how do I enter that information - the fields do not seem to be appropriate - how do others do it? Automatic citation is ju...

Diagram - text boxes
Let me describe what I have done. I have set up a new text scheme with the details I want. I clicked on default to associate it with the new text scheme called 'full names'. That works. I have then set up an abbreviated one for spouses without marriage details. Clicked on spouse to associate it with...

Diagram - text boxes
Having read and reread the chapter about setting up your own text boxes for diagrams, I have successfully created one with the details I want and applied that to the default. I have then created a slightly different one for the spouse and applied that. Default also changes to the spouse type. If I c...
