Timeline Plugin

Hi Jane The new version of the Plugin seems to work fine with my problem person, so that appears to now be sorted - thank you. What I have noticed is that if I right-click the timeline and select Convert to Adobe PDF, nothing happens. Whether this was the case with the earlier version I know not. I ...

Timeline Plugin

I have someone in the tree who appears to have a mental breakdown and I'd like to show the likely factors on a timeline in v5 using the Timeline Plugin. The 'death of parent/child' seems to show in the timeline as standard, so that's good - but like to find a way to include 'death of siblings' and e...

Inserting family tree into diagram

Thanks I'll experiment with the 'Spouse Shift' - it may be that I can create something for each individual in the 'couple' from the generation before and thereby use this function - subsequently joinig two trees in the graphics program... I can also 'recolour' routes that way obviously but it's a bi...

Inserting family tree into diagram

Thank you for taking thr trouble to explain that and for taking even more trouble to decode my gibberish. It would be really handy if FH had an option to selectively 'reverse couples' in diagrams (a future ehancement perhaps?). I can recall a couple of times in the past where it would have been very...

Inserting family tree into diagram

Thanks for that - I now have both families showing on the tree but... It orders by the male. Here's the scenario: It is for a local history display at a village fete ('banner' printed) There is a statue in the village to Caroline - she is therefore the main subject. Caroline married Richard in 1834 ...

Family tree diagram for couple

Hi

I'm also trying to produce a tree diagram for a couple - I've read this thread and the help file but as soon as I select the second person the diagram icons grey out...

Am I misunderstanding?

Cataloguing/Archiving the real things - how?

Thanks for the replies… To take them in order: Chris. I am trying to photograph or scan everything that I can but one ends up with a vast number of objects that way which need to be embedded within Family Historian as it doesn’t seem to use relative addressing. That is to say that if I am running FH...

Cataloguing/Archiving the real things - how?

There have been countless words written in the FH magazines about acid-free this that and the other but... 1) Does anybody know of any articles, guides, whatever to actually cataloguing all the artefacts that we acquire as part of our family history? I basically need to have some sort of reference s...

Publishing your Family History on the Web

Just to let you know that the link to Res Privata doesn't work and if you Google 'Nairbor' the only thing that pops up is FHUG....

Shame, it sounded good...

A problem with an individual's names...

Thanks Jane - you really are a treasure. I ran through the 'how to' and that makes things a bit clearer. Part way through it you mention 'using a single source for all birth certificates'which is how I am intending to do it. Can I add a multi-media object to a citation somehow? i.e. the scan of the ...

A problem with an individual's names...

Brilliant!!! Thanks Jane... I must admit to still being a bit confused with sources, despite reading the manual. In the software I used to use, the source as 'GRO Birth Cert' and I then had a 'pointer' to that source with the GRO reference and I could attach the scanned image to the pointer (if that...

A problem with an individual's names...

Generic 'In Census' Queries???

Hi Jane Thanks for that - I now have something that works!!! As I want to achieve results Census by Census I am, at the moment, creating individual queri...

Generic 'In Census' Queries???

Hi Irene I've got that one and, whilst very useful, it doesn't do exactly what I need... I want to be able to, say, produce a list of all the individuals who SHOULD appear on the 1871 Census. 'Census - The Missing Years' produces a list of individuals who have a source already alocated to them that ...

Generic 'In Census' Queries???

Hi all I've been trying to make sense of queries, but, being none too bright on the programming front, have failed miserably... I'm wanting a query that will list individuals who 'should' be in a particular census i.e. for 1901, born between 1816 and 1900 inclusive (1901-85years to the year before t...

Multimedia - fields vs records

Jane

I exported from PAF as an ANSI GDECOM file as this seemed to be the only one of the options that FH took any notice of at all in terms of the multimedia links.

All this technical stuff leaves be a bit cold as I'm very much one of 'the paper generation'.

Multimedia - fields vs records

I know FH only arrived this morning but... I used to use PAF and have exported from there as a Gedcom. This gives the multi-mrdia objects as fields... but... to enable the advanced features of FH's photo handling, these need to be stored as records (is that the right way round?)... Is there a method...
