OK, that's interesting. Thanks all!
Looks like the upgrade path just got a little less rocky.
Well, to be fair that happened a while ago but, as you can tell, it's been a while since I last went through the upgrade process.

V5 'upgrade' with V7 FULL licence.
I have been using FH for many years (started on V4). I have now decided it is finally time to move from V5 to V7. BUT... I am going to re-purchase the full licence for V7, rather than upgrade (it's only a few quid difference). I would rather not have to re-install FH from the beginning if I lost my ...

Also meant to add - I guess we'll be needing a V5 usage section now....?

V5 via FHUG
Amazon says FH5 is not available until 20th April. Also they seem to be charging a lot more - £41 as against £36 at TWR. Is this because of the percentage for FHUG?

Just a thought. Clearly I don't know how you configured the settings for the TV connection. The netbook would probably configure the TV display as a clone of the netbook display by default, which would then limit the resolution of the TV display to that of the netbook display. The displays should be...

'...I would have liked an HD port to connect to a TV..' If you have a fairly recent tv, probably of the flat screen variety, it should have a PC or VGA connector on the back (or side). Every netbook and laptop has a VGA connector on it somewhere and you just use a standard VGA cable to connect the n...

Ancestors forced onto separate rows from siblings
Hmmm.. not too good really. I suppose I will have to live with that 'problem' as I need to use the All Relatives diagram. The Ancestors and Descendents diagrams do not show enough of the family (siblings and their spouses and children). What about the strange loop FH has put in to place Thomas Jezza...

Ancestors forced onto separate rows from siblings
Is there a 'feature' in FH that forces ancestors and their spouses onto separate rows from their siblings? If so, is there a way to override it as it is making a section of one of my All Relatives diagrams look a bit odd. In the screenshot, if I close the descendant line from Samuel and Alice Banks ...

FH doesn't do 'pretty'?
I appreciate that FH has a lot of functionality - in fact, a lot more functionality than I am ever likely to use! This is all very well but what about when it comes to printing out charts to give out to family, how can I produce a 'presentation quality' chart? FH seems to rely on colours and simple ...

Ellis Island records oddity?
If you do an advanced search for Elsie Blain in 1920 you should get 2 records returned. The first one (manifest line 13) has been struck through. The second one (manifest line 16 but on a different page) has some interesting hand-written annotations. It is the last entry on the page and just underne...

Ellis Island records oddity?
The individual concerned in my case was 19 years of age at the time, would this be considered under age?
As far as I can tell she was also travelling alone, and had payed for her own ticket.

Thanks for the replies, folks.
The passenger lists I have looked at are on the Ellis Island website and are scans of the original ship's documents.
I will be having another look at them today.

Ellis Island records oddity?
Just wondering if someone can help clear up something I found in the Ellis Island records which appears a bit odd - well, to me anyway. I was researching on behalf of someone in the US, whose mother had emigrated there in 1920. I found the individual in the records - twice! The details on the 2 reco...

Continuous Printing
What printer are you using? I have found a document on the web for Epson printers (http://files.support.epson.com/pdf/sc3k__/sc3k__ps.pdf) which says at the top of p3: 'The printer driver must be set for Roll Paper (Banner) mode so that page breaks at the printer's maximum page length do not occur (...

Selectively hide dates for individuals
Just wondering if there is a way to 'hide' dates (birth, marriage or death) for selected individuals when producing charts. I am using FH v4 with the latest update. I have been asked to provide family tree charts for a christening in April, and some family members have asked that their date details ...

Using continuous forms
Hello I've searched the FH help and the forums on here but can't find an answer to my problem. I am using an Epson LQ1170 with continuous plain white paper. I want to print an 'All Relations chart' such that it prints in 3 (or however many) 'vertical' strips which I can tape together. I have set the...
