Re: My Id's are changed!

Hi Mike and Lorna, I think that the suggestion of the effect of a merge is the most likely. I was vaguely aware of the problem a year or two back, but since then I was mainly working with new data I had little incentive to dig further until now. Shall we say that my curiosity overcame my inertia! Th...

My Id's are changed!

I use Family Historian IDs extensively for my OneNameStudy as a quick and unique reference to an individual. I have just discovered that in about May 2012 all the old IDs changed to new ones. There appears to be no other change in the records apart from the ID. Has anyone else experienced this? If s...

How can I add the Updated Date and Time shown in the Property Dialog All to the results shown in a Query as a new column?

Thank you.          Don in Canada

Using date/time information in Property Dialog

In the Property Dialog, Tab All, the upper line displayed has Heading Updated, with Date and Time Information. Query: can this date and/or time info be accessed for use in Searches, Reports, Diagrams etc.? For example I would like to include in a custom search the Update Date for each item found. Th...

Multiple - Parents family  - finding

Thanks Peter, I will try out your suggestion. In case you or anyone else is curious as to how one can get multiple parents for an individual, one way is through 'Merge/Compare Records' or 'Merge/Compare File..'. If you merge two records for an individual one of which contains known parentage, while ...

Multiple - Parents family  - finding

In my 30,000 individuals I have a few who have acquired two sets of parents, one is correct, the other is 'Unknown'.

Has anyone devised a Query which will find individuals with more than one set of parents?

Suggestions welcome.

Transfer of custom queries, report formats

Thanks Jane you are a mine of information. I had compared the size of those files and thought they were identical, I will look more closely.

Your Smilies box is delightful.

Transfer of custom queries, report formats

Due to a computer crash I have to reinstal FH 3 on my second computer. There is no problem with the installation but how do I bring over the 20 or so Custom Queries, and the various report options from my main computer? To generalize the query: what is the best way of keeping FH installations on two...

Results Set Record Selection

In a Results Set produced by a Custom Query I would like to be able to highlight a particular name and display the Property Dialogue or Tree for that person. Left click on the name places a black border around it, but I have been unable to find any click or keystroke combination  which takes the pro...

GEDCOM import from Pedigree

The earlier versions of PediTree for Windows used the GEDCOM 4 format and were compatible with Pedigree which was DOS based. The later version of PediTree uses a modified GEDCOM 5 format. It differs from the earlier version of PediTree in the names of some Events. So that although it will both expor...

Uncategorized Data

Hi Nick and Jon, Good detective work on your part. Yes the GEDCOM originated in PediTree and is in the older GEDCOM 4 format. It is the main file for my One Name Study of BIDGOOD and variants and runs to some 30,000 individuals. So that converting it to GEDCOM 5.5 would only be practical if there is...

Uncategorized Data

During a GEDCOM import FH identifies and deals with a number of attributes such as TITL FROM TO ORG REF by treating them as Uncategorized Data. The data from these can be viewed by using the ALL Tab in the Property Dialogue and is present and correct. However I can find no way of displaying any of t...

GEDCOM problems with Pedigree

As a long time user of originally Pedigree and more recently PediTree; and a new user of FH I have encountered the problems described and have been fairly sucessful in overcoming them with techniques similar to those recommended. Some additional comments: To the best of my knowledge there is no late...
