Multimedia linked to families
Just a small thought. I've just put in some pictures of the houses that my great-grandparents lived at. I linked the picture to the family of Mr & Mrs Smith, but when I view all multimedia associated with either one of them, the pictures do not show up. I have now manually linked the pictures to the...

Reversing place lists
If you bring up the place list screen and then click on 'More >>' and then on 'Reverse Display Order' then the most important part of the place name (the country) is on the left, then the county, town and (possibly) church name, etc. This means that all of the countries and counties line up together...

Reversing place lists
The place names I have included in my family tree vary between 3 or 4 sections in length. This means that unless I reverse the display order it is difficult to compare different entries. Is there any way to reverse the display order by default?

Unique custom events
I wasn't talking about a real programming problem with efficiency - I just meant it felt wrong to create a custom type and use it only once[wink] Anyway I think I may stick with my plan to use the Attribute, as that way I could stick in some code to display any special events as part of the diagram ...

Unique custom events
Just wondering if anyone knows the best way to add a unique custom event? eg Having put in the information from my wife's family tree I have discovered an individual who founded a Kentish Bank in 1816. Creating a new custom event that will never be needed again seems a little excessive (and offends ...

From my own limited experience of queries, I believe you need to set up a query with the following in the columns section: INDI INDI.~SPOU[1]>NAME[1]:SURNAME ie the person and their spouses surname. In the rows section you need to do the following thins: 1) Add all females: Add if, INDI.Sex, Matches...

Now you mention it, that does sound vaguely familiar from the tutorial.

Friends diagram
Just for fun I thought I'd try to create a diagram of all my friends - partly to record where I know them from, partly to link together pictures of them. I seem to have worked out a way of doing it - create a person called 'Friends' - marry them to 'School' 'University' 'Fencing Club' 'Work' and the...

Adding / removing a lot of sources
I am very new to FH and I have so far managed on several occasions to either leave auto citation either on or off by mistake. Is there an easy way to add a citation to lots of records, without having to select each one in turn, delete all the sources which were added by accident (one at a time) and ...

Age at photo
Is there any way to show the age of the person when the photograph was taken on the diagram view?
I have got as far as: %INDI.OBJE[1]>_DATE%
but the DATE field does not have an ':AGE' qualifier (understandably, as the multimedia record is linked to, not being part of the person).
Any ideas?

Linking multimedia to sub-tags
I know that you can currently link multimedia entries to sub-tags, eg link a photograph of the family shop to a person's occupation, or a photograph of a school to a person's education. But, there seems no easy way to get at these photos - they do not show up in the multimedia list for that person, ...

Preferred occupation / education
Is there any way to set the preferred occupation or education to display? It is easy to display the first of each, but often the last one is the most relevant (eg it might be of passing interest which primary school someone went to, but their degree might be more generally relevant, also someone may...

Bug: multimedia picture resize
Just a small bug, and one which I have only myself to blame. One of the pictures I had linked to was stupidly large (both in terms of pixels and MB) so I decided to shrink it a bit. However, when I viewed the image again within FH I found that the link boxes went off the edge of the picture. The box...
