One possible problem could be that there is a limit of 500 characters in a diagram and if you exceed that then any data after that point is not displayed.
Calico are aware of this and a fix is hoped for soon.

Queries (again)
I have created a query but I have three questions - if anyone can help! Question 1 - Is there any way in which you can specify that text 'wraps' in a column? By this I mean that if the text is too long (as with a note) to fit in the space can it be made to go onto two lines? Question 2 - Can a colum...

Registration of a Death
Does anyone know the answer to this? In 1941 my uncle was serving with the RAF in India and was killed in a motor cycle accident. He is buried in the CWGC cemetery in Calcutta. The question I have is where would his death have been registered? Would it be in Calcutta or the UK. Depending on the answ...

It does not work Jane.
If you save a page of the 'How To' all you get, when you open it up later, is a page without the tutorial - in other words you cannot save the tutorial part.

Placing info on a web site
There are several progams out there that will allow you to create your family tree on a web page. The majority of them will take your GEDCOM file - so it is a fairly easy job to keep it up to date. As to which to use it will depend on whether you want to have a freebie or to pay for it. It will also...

Have you had this problem with any other software package? I, and I am sure many others, have run FH on a laptop with XP without any problems. I would suggest that the problem lies with your laptop and not FH - I know that is not what you really want to hear. My suggestion would be to uninstall FH a...

Are you trying to reformat it in Word? If so I could probably help as I have had considerable experience with Word - I used to teach it for a living at one time.
If you would like to email me the file I will see what I can do.

I do not have a problem with the Registrar of BDM as there is plenty of other evidence to back this up. The puzzle is the 'Bricklayer' occupation. I think I tend to go along with Jane and it be a transcription error as it seems that it could well have been his father's occupation. Thanks for your su...

Just a couple, well three actually, of questions:
1 - Does everything else run ok on your machine, nothing else freezing up?
2 - What operating system are you using? Is it Windows XP, Windows 98, Mac or some other?
3 - Do you have an anti virus program on your machine?

Probably the easiest way is to load the GEDCOM file into a text editor and do a find and replace.

Without listing them all again if you use the Links > Resources in the menu on the left there are about a dozen sites that may be of use to you. Probably a good starting off point for dates of birth etc would br FreeBMD but there are two things that you will need to bear in mind: Firstly this site i...

Just put a new version up with the following changes: 1. Ability to enter a person's name. 2. Ability to change the description of the Custom events. 3. Improved error checking (maximum age = 120) 4. Ability to print out the results (can go to file if set up for output to a .pdf file) 5. Included 18...

Date of Birth Calculator
Having become tired of trying to work out dates of birth when there are several date/age sources I decided to create the Date of Birth Calculator which can be found at http://www.f-tree.org.uk This calculator differs from Jane's in that it will take the age at a given date and calculate the date of ...

When you are in record window there is the option to click on the title bar and have the data sorted, in ascending order, by that field. Could there be change made such that clicking on that firld name again it would reverse the sort as in Windows XP?

New 1837online Site
The point is that you should not have to change print settings. The page should be set up to print in portrait - which the majority of people have as the default.
At the end of the day this is a new site and this should have been catered for - other sites handle without problems.

My first observation is do not try to print the results of a search. I did a search on a recent death certificate (2002) and when I printed if off the right hand side was missing!

The idea sounds fine in principle but how can you control the size of a family group - where does it start? Where does it end.
You could end up with a situation where the family group is printed on one page but ends up so small that you cannot read it!
