Re: Custom fact name not accepting hyphen
Mike I had a complete misunderstanding of how Facts work, and as usual your explanation was excellent, and I now understand that I can create a New Fact using alpha-numerics, but put the hyphenated name in the Label. However, I'm still confused as to why I would have to do this in V6 when V5 allowed...

Custom fact name not accepting hyphen
When attempting to create a 'Co-residence' fact I get the standard warning about Fact names only containing alpha-numeric characters... I have a couple of Co-residence facts created in an earlier version and these still appear on the Facts tab of the Property Box, but I'm unable to create any new on...

Missing Tutorial Files in V6
In the Project Window when clicking on More Tasks and then on Samples, the individual tutorials are missing for Chapter 6-17. I'm running an upgrade from V5, where the tutorial files worked fine. I've tried uninstalling the application and then re-installing, but the files are still missing. The tut...

Re: Clooz
Thanks for that Mike. I have used the GEDCOM from FH to import into Clooz, but as I understand it, there are more features when a program is supported by Clooz. Programs that are supported include Legacy, Roots Magic and The Master Genealogist. The supported programs are shown on the Clooz website s...

Clooz
As a FH and Clooz user, I contacted Clooz to see if Clooz could be integrated with FH, and here is the response: "Hi David. As far as I know, Rich has not yet talked to Family Historian about an interface similar to our Legacy interface. I don't really know much about Family Historian, so your prais...

Finding duplicate facts
Thanks Mike
I had run the All Facts query, but had not realized that sorting by event would show up the duplicates quite well. Thanks again.

Finding duplicate facts
I've received a GEDCOM file from a relative which was built on Ancestry, and which was in a bit of a mess. I have found and merged numerous duplicate individuals and families, but there are also a large number of individuals with duplicate facts which have been added from Ancestry tips, without chec...

Check for Unlinked Media
Thanks for pointing that out Mike, and jane, you were right. I have two copies of this image. One with just the first name of George Webster and one with both first names.
I'll go through these files again and check them all. Thanks for your help.

Check for Unlinked Media
Mike Here's a screenshot showing two multimedia records. The first one, the marriage of George Webster is flagged by the plugin as not linked. The second one is not flagged, but apart from the file extension looks identical. I have also looked at The Work with External File Links and the George Webs...

Check for Unlinked Media
After having another look at the first media item I've found that it was linked to another individual. I'll look through the list again to see if there are any further errors. I'll get back to you later.

Here's a couple of images Jane. The first one shows the results set and the second shows the 1881 census source for William Adshead. Hope this helps.

Check for Unlinked Media
When running this plugin, the result set flags up media items which are in fact linked. As I've not seen other reports of this, I suspect there is a problem with the links, but I've checked everything I can think of, and I don't know what the problem is.

1911 census puzzle
Thanks Tim That's very interesting. I knew about Robert, but the George born in 1898 is a real surprise. I do know that they had another son called George Washington Gray(named after Timothy's mother Julia Washington), who was born in 1916 and died in 1917. That must mean that they lost three sons, ...

You are correct Lorna. They married in 1895.
Mike, where can I find the information about deaths at sea? I've looked on Ancestry, and the Genealogist, but couldn't find anything.

1911 census puzzle
Mike, Thanks for your helpful post. It came through as I was responding to Tim. You could well be right about the children's deaths. I will look into it and try to obtain certificates. I do know that my grandfather Timothy didn't die until 1948, so the record you found must be the wrong one. But it ...

1911 census puzzle
Well spotted Tim. I hadn't noticed the anomaly with the number of living children. You could be right about them back-dating the date of birth. I can't come up with any other explanation. As for Timothy being crossed off the census, he was a seaman, and in the occupation column it says that he was a...

An aunt of mine Susannah Gray was born on 18 August 1911 (I have the birth cert.), yet appears on the 1911 census, aged 10 months! her parents (my grandparents) had five older children, one of whom is shown on the census as 1 year old. Does anyone have any ideas on how this might have come about? ID:...

Jane and Mike
Thanks for your help. I'll try what you suggest Jane. Mike, it's good to know it is a known problem.
As an aside Mike, Roots Magic uses a Sort Date, which I think is a great feature, although I much prefer FH, the best family history software on the market in my opinion.

Peter and Mike Thanks for your replies. I have clicked on the date column heading and here's the result: http://www.fhug.org.uk/images/uploads/screenshot0002.jpg All that seems to have happened is that the death event has been swapped with the marriage event. But irrespective of any solutions to thi...

Lorna An undated death event isn't always listed after all life events, unless I'm doing something wrong. Please see screenshot. http://www.fhug.org.uk/images/uploads/screenshot00011.jpg I realize I can position an occupation to some extent, but it would be nice to position it just where I want it.
