People rarely lie about their birthplace but often give different locations, parish, township, farm, nearest village the enumerator has heard of.

I have encountered the same problem, indeed I have stopped using AS for other than censuses. Shame, as it would be very useful.

Read only access
I have used FHsince version 3 and frequently sent copies of trees to relatives etc who could then download a read only version of FH. This saved f.....g about producing PDF copies which they could open. This now seems to have vanished. Why?

The only point that I have found in the present program is that it does not cover the 1891 and 1901 Scottish census question, 'speaks Gaelic(g) or Gaelic and English(g & e)'. Master tradesman means that the individual was an wmployer tather than an employee or journeyman. There was a surprising amount of toing and froing between the UK and USA but I would check variants on spelling as names can be misheard or misread.
