Place levels in FH

I use 5 columns/fields like SunnyLady and put in leading commas where nessesary. This is a bit if a pain but it makes reports etc. print out properly. I don't tend to use the residence attribute (I assume this is what you refer to as the address above?) much either. Jane are there any links to the f...

Toponymy

I have just had a 'play' and it looks pretty useful. It doesn't know of some villages which is a shame as my lot are all country bumkins (and proud of it [tongue]) Otherwise it does what it says on the tin. It's certainly handy if you aren't sure of a place name. For instance from a census transcrip...

GEDClean32 amp; raynorshyn.com

I have just managed to pay through raynorshine.com and got the file by email straight away. I have had a play and it looks pretty good to me. You can filter on the living flag easily or you could create a list in a .txt file for it to filter on. Or you can analyse the file in real time. This could t...

GEDClean32 amp; raynorshyn.com

I have had the same problem paying on this site. Does anyone know if it is available elsewhere? Has anyone compared it to Res Privata which is a free for personal use utility to clean out gencom files? I have used this one but the problem I have is that I don't have birth dates for all the living pe...

Ancestry.com family tree

Just to let you know. I ran my FH gedcom through Res Privata and uploaded it onto Ancestry no problem. I find the potential links it gives you a great advantage and have found some great links into my tree. I agree there are a lot of spurious ones that come up but the world is a big place and unless...

Webclean - Missing Value

Hi, I have downloaded and istalled the webclean query. When I run it it puts default dates of 1910 and 1901 into cut off and parent dates. If I run it using these default values it returns an error saying 'Missing Value' I have tried putting ancestors to exclude into the relevant boxes but I assume ...

Can't load Saved as pictures from Paint Shop Pro

For what it's worth. I haven't tried using Tiff's but I import my images into FH as jpg's and if I want to export (save as) from FH I use bpm and have experienced no difficulties.

Diagram Copy Resolution

I have now produced what I want using FH save as .bmp file, Edited in PSP, had it printed in Jessops and mounted and framed it ready to present. Very happy with results. For anyone interested here a link to the image I produced at 72 dpi, 600 dpi is a very large file. Once mounted and framed it is v...

Diagram Copy Resolution

Done the upgrade. Saved diagram as .bmp and got 600dpi by default. Had to mess about with size in FH to get the right dimensions (not sure why setting print setup in FH to A3, sizing the diagram appropriately and saving actual size doesn't give me an A3 image?) but still I have what I need now. Many...

Sorry Jane but the only save option I have under the Diagram Menu is the Save As Custom Diagram option which just puts it into custom diagrams on the view menu. The only way I can see to get it out a a bimap is through the diagram copy option, select bitmap as opposed to enhanced metafile. I have tr...

Diagram Copy Resolution

Hi Jane, Sorry I have two threads going on this. Thnaks for your input. I have been trying both print to PDF995 and diagram copy into Paint Shop Pro. Both with varying success. 1. Import into PSP using diagram copy seems to work well but the max resolution I can get is 72dpi. 2. I can Change the bac...

Diagram Copy Resolution

Does anyone know if it is possible to increase the resolution of the output from the Diagram - Copy command? It seems to default to 72ppi. I am trying to export a 5 level tree, with individual pictures into Paint Shop Pro. The aim is to get a proffessional poster size print out (about A3) that I can...

Storing info offline

I just back my data up to a USB drive (the type you carry on your keyring) cost about £20. The backup routine zips the file so it isn't large. Works fine for me so I don't tend to print anything out unless I need to. [grin]

Chart Printing as a presentation gift

Hi, I am interested in trying to print off a chart showing two generations down and up from a source couple. I want to produce a large (A3) good quality print that I can mount and frame prefferably with a parchment type background to make it look authentic and present as a gift to the source couple....

Cornish Tin miner emigrated to Australia and died

Hi, I am trying to trace my paternal Grandfather Walter Reynolds (who I never knew). He was born in Cambourne, Cornwall in 1894. Married my Grandmother Lily Tippett in 1922. My father was born in 1923. Sometime after this (fairly soon I believe) Walter emigrated to Australia where he died before my ...

Thanks for replies Jane and Caryl, Sadly I don't have any cles as to when he left, where he landed or when/where he died. I have tried the NSW database you suggest Jane but found no matches there. I'll do some more digging from the Cornwall end and see if I can narrow down the dates or at least arriv...

Miners

Hi, Sorry to but in on this thread. I'm not as far back as you are but my family were tin miners in Cornwall certainly as far back as the late 1800's. I am trying to trace some information on my paternal grandfather, who I never knew. He emigrated to Australia (as a tin miner I beleive)when my fathe...
