When I have the birth death or marriage information but no certificateI have just made up a standard table within word and record all the relevent information in each field. H...

Hi Phil, Re paying more for a product than others is life in the compuer game. I cant remember one product that does not come down in price. I cant say much about the upgrade but Simon is pretty fair so I would imagine the upgrade would be free however at the end of the day he does deservemoney for ...

Stephen, I think this may be down to PC World. It is not a retailer I would recommend as I remember well paying a lot of money for FTM only to find out it was already out of date. They are not good at checking version numbers or stock control.

Thanx Jane, I can confirm I have now imported the gedcom from FH into my Compaq Pocket PC and it has worked fine, the problem must lie with the other user.

I agree Norman, this is a huge advantage to FH. Also the program is much better than anything else around for my research, this is not just a case of slagging everyone else its just the s/w is so versatile and if there are some things missing, which there will be s this is a very new product you can...

I have found the advice here most helpful as I have now completed scanning in any old Birth Marriage and Deathe certificates I have and linking them to the sources, likewise I am linking the ones I do not have but have the details via Register House (Edinburgh) as documents to the sources. This idea...

I think I have answered this myself by inserting it like any other picture and clicking the source option and tagging it to the source, to view I just select the source option to view the certificate or item. If this is incorrect I look forward to any advice.

Is there any specific way I should add scanned images to my sources or is it just the same as adding multimedia to an individual. The manual cover adding multimedia very well but does not state anything about adding it to a source.

I am sure the fuction you are looking for is one that is in FTM, one of the very few function they have that FH does not, I am only saying this out of memmory as it is a long time since I used FTM.

To my knowledge Fran this does not exist in this version of FH, I believe it may be in the Wish List, why not check and if not pop it in. This is one of the great things about this s/w. Try doing that with some of the American products.

Hi Fran,
I have just recently bought FH and in the manal it does advise you that you will get a free upgrade to Version 2.2 so if the book report is in 2.2 you would get it upgraded free. I must admit I find it a great piece of software and Jane is great at answering any questions.

Having went through Jane's article on sources I have found this facility much clearer, if you are confused with this area it is well worth a read and looking at some of the other posts it is obviously an area that confuses other people. Thanks again for the assistance Jane, good article. Colin [grin]

This makes a lot of sense, prior to this I was confused about how to use sources. Reading through the Forums it is also confusing for others as well. Once again thanks for the assistance.

Sources have been my problem as well and possibly for new users some advice would be a big help. I started just using sources as a reminder to me as to where I received my information from. I never considered itemising each individual birth and marriage certificate and using it as an individual sour...
