Voice Recording
Unless you happen to have an iRiver or other digital voice recorder which will allow you to record direct to mp3, I suggest that you consider recording with a microphone through your soundcard into your computer. I have just successfully completed transferring about 500 LPs from vinyl and cassette v...

Announcing Family Historian 3
Ouch! I've only just paid good money for FH 2.3 so I guess I'll pass on paying another £24 even though the features look good.

I promised to report back on my other options for converting from my old DOS-based program. 1) Export as CSV, then convert to Gedcom: I exported from Trees as CSV, then tried to run fix2ged.exe, which I had downloaded from this site. Thanks Jane. I'll try that for sure. In fact I'll try all three options and report back if that might be of interest to others. FH didn't report any other serious problems on reading in the Gedcom 4 file, so I personally would rather try search and replace. Do you happen to know if FH prefers CHR or...

I have been keeping my family database on an old DOS-based program called Trees III. The developers binned it when they decided not to develop a Windows-based version. I am therefore upgrading to FH but have hit a snag in that Trees is so old it only offers to export as CSV, Gedcom 3 or Gedcom 4. FH...
