Re: census images

Yes, there is, I have several occasions when this has occurred. You do View/Add Image as normal, but then select the "Link existing image already in the file" (see upper right of the Add/View image pane). Then you can select the existing image from the list provided.

Re: Linked census records

If I interpret you correctly, that's the whole reason for using AS. It will add the census event to all the people you add as being part of the census entry(s), and also occupation where added. It will also add residence for all the people too. I think there are options as to what attributes etc. ar...

Re: 1861 Census record for HM Ships at sea

I'm not sure if it is the same, but I have Ship Census templates for 1861-1891, as I had a relative that was on ship in Cardiff Bay in 1891, so I looked up the info on Ship census's and made them for AS. If similar to what you have, you could do a modified template if not the same as English one. I'...

1932 Source records of which probably over 1500 were created with AS.

Re: Should I repeat previous old data entries using AS

That depends how many people and sources you have in your tree to 're-do'. It's not essential, but can tidy up the 'Text From Source' with the Rich Text auto-text templates in AS. It can be a slog to re-generate hundreds of source records.

Re: Autotext in Baptism

The fix for rich-text tables in v7.7.2 had a side-effect of creating every table row as a separate table. So deleting a column was correctly just deleting one cell as currently all tables only have a maximum of one row. This will be fixed in the next update. Funny, as when I saw the behaviour, I th...

Re: Add Images Forgetting previous folders

AS hasn't cleared it out on upgrade In which case, it's just very odd, but fixing itself with use. If AS didn't clear out and I didn't change anything re computer or files, then it's one of 'those' weird things. I did notice all the entries in the file are duplicate, one with and one without the Co...

Re: Add Images Forgetting previous folders

It all looks fine, and correct, except some are missing, so there must have been a clear out on upgrade or some-such. I don't recall them being cleared previously (may not have been concentrating). The others are present because I've been through and added various census images. Not really a problem...

Add Images Forgetting previous folders

I noticed the other day that for some reason, AS (7.7.2 64-bit) was going to the wrong folder for given census images (Add Image), where previously it went to the specific one for the year (I have separate ones by year). It seemed to pick the wrong census year folder, but I thought I'd just done som...

Re: Wish List - Minister (or Registrar)

As I hope, a final wrap up on my original posting, I thought a bit about what I was probably looking for but with no expectation of it being implemented any time soon or at all. Basically, if the Minister input field was split to a name and note field (like the association fields), then it would be ...

Re: Wish List - Minister (or Registrar)

Mike, by the look of Nick's reply, I'll just wait until he ever gets time to do the 'remember last selection' thing to handle the ordering as that is simple and effective from a user perspective. As for the Minister v Association and having read the other thread and the FH aspects, I need to think a...

Re: Wish List - Minister (or Registrar)

Yeah, as indicated in my post, I knew it could be done via the associated people input as well as the explicit input. I think I'd got blinkered by the MINISTER keyword and it being used in the templates. It would be a case of abandoning the use of the Minister field and just using associated people,...

Re: Adding Census Transcription After Entry

What I've done where I have old pre-Rich-Text or missing transcriptions (all types) is to use AS to quickly re-enter the minimal information enough to generate the desired auto-text. Then select all and copy the auto-text to the text-from-source in the source record. It's a bit tedious if you have l...

option for "Method 1M" for media :) that would link media to desired relevant facts. I'm not sure what I'm missing here, but for facts in FH, if you have a citation/source with media, then clicking the Show Media for the selected fact shows thumbnails all the media for the all sources the fact refe...

Re: AS / FH and TNG Gedcoms

Have you had a look at the FH Plugin called "Export GEDCOM File". It has a lot of options on how to export your file. In particular it has options for various targets such as Find My Past (which I use) and The Next Generation which you are using. It will tidy/remove FH specific things to make the GE...

Wish List - Minister (or Registrar)

I was pondering the Further Info tab in particular the Minister (or Registrar) field. I have always entered this where the information is available, with name and role (Vicar, Rector, Curate etc.) as documented, but not really thought about what happens to it. In practice it is simply placed in the ...

Re: Maritime Census (1881)

I'll take that as a no then. ;) So, I looked into the censuses for Ships & Vessels in port, and they are basically all the same from 1861 to 1891 as far as I can find examples of. So, I have created census templates for these years, and attached the definition file to this post. Feel free to use it,...

Re: Possible Auto-Text RIch Text Problem

I have found editing tables other than simple ones to be a no no in FH, and rarely need to do so. At most correcting a typo or name after the fact. FH does not like trying to edit complex table structures, but like AS you can do it quite 'happily' in the RAW RT edit mode. The rendering of the RT tab...

Re: Possible Auto-Text RIch Text Problem

I've been using this and similar auto-text for a couple of years with no problem. Can't say exactly when the problem arose in relation to the very recent FH update (7.0.19) and the AS update (7.7.x). I have found several occurrences I hadn't noticed that show the same problem. Looking at others it s...

Ok, it happened again, the next time I did the same marriage auto-text. Here is an image of the problem. The top one is what ended up in FH. The bottom is what was in AS auto-text window (looking fine), which I copy and pasted to FH (I copied before saving in AS just in case the problem occurred aga...
