Re: Changing backup type?
Further - still running under Win 8.1 as in the previous exchange of posts to which you drew my attention.
I assume that, in view of MS's not very subtle arm twisting, a switch to Win 10 is inevitable very shortly, and trust that wouldn't complicate the issue further?

Re: Changing backup type?
Thank-you, both! Yes, Bill, you are right. Top of the screen shows Gedcom rather than Project. I fear, Mike, that (as a fully paid-up member of the Wrinkly Club) I can't now recall actions at that time or any reasons for same. Can you please suggest a way it may be reversed? With renewed thanks to y...

Changing backup type?
Some time ago I set up the backup format to 'Small (gedcom only)', but I now wish to change to 'Full (entire project folder)'. Have been into 'Backup Options' and into 'Preferences' directly as well. Selected 'Let me choose backup type' , which is now displayed, but the other two options are still g...

Re: Who do you think you are and on-line certificates
Don't know about your actual marriage certificates, but I'm having a lot of success trawling through Gloucestershire parish registers and bishop's transcripts. Loads of them now on Ancestry.

Date Entry - An idle query
I'm probably missing something here but tell me . . . Why does the Date Entry Assistant (e.g. to enter a 'before' date under 'Range') demand that month be selected from a pull down list (January, February, March, etc) rather than a number being keyed entered as in other parts of the screen? I just k...

Amendment of e.g. Assessments
I have recently come back to FH after a long period when I didn't do anything. There are some thousands of entries in my FH v5 database. Like Pedro (on a different thread) I am now unhappy about some of the fields I entered way back. Purely as an example, I would no longer consider what was entered ...

FH5 arrived promptly this morning from S&N. Quick Start Guide suggests loading it first then importing the old gedcom file. In view of the new 64bit aspect, could you please advise if there's anything else I need to be aware of?

After further thought I have pursued the full 64bit CD v5 option as mentioned, rather than the upgrade. It's now on order from S&N, who I have always found good to deal with. Watch this space ...

Many thanks once again! Yes indeed. I had encountered the 32bit>64bit problem before reading your post, but wil try again now, using the method you have kindly proposed. Fortunately I do have the FH versions on CD and (hopefully) the regkeys. I am tempted, however, to buy and adopt the alternative m...

We have been using v4 under MS Vista very happily for some time. Because (probably like most users) we only make use of a small proportion of the numerous facilities available, we have felt no urge to upgrade to v5. However, we are being forced to replace our laptop with a fancy new one, which runs ...
