Saving Box styles
Thank you again, Jane. That's a really useful article - now printed out and inserted in my FH manual. Now, I never would have thought of looking in the Application Data folder for FH settings, but I had kept an up to date back-up of all the Application Data folders (Admin, All Users and Me), and lo ...

Borders around diagrams/charts
That's exactly what I had in mind! I'll give it a whirl.
Thank you again.

Saving Box styles
Ah, wonderful! That seems to solve the immediate need. I'll play around with it and build up a 'custom library' of styles. BTW: Where are my custom diagrams and custom queries saved? I noticed that I lost a custom query that I had made (as opposed to those which I had downloaded) when I moved to ano...

Saving Box styles
Hello again. This follows from my recent post about borders. Is there any way of saving (and re-using) a set of box styles for a diagram. I find that I want to have different styles for different purposes: e.g. no boxes at all for a simple tree; fancy boxes with coloured fill for another purposes et...

Borders around diagrams/charts
Hi Jane; thanks for that. I may be missing something here, but I can see how what you suggest will allow customising the boxes for the individual people on the tree (and I have been doing that). But I can't see how that method can be applied to the border around the whole chart. What I have done is ...

Borders around diagrams/charts
Hi, I know there was a recent message thread a little while ago about customising borders around diagrams, but I'm afraid I couldn't find it again. My query is about putting a fancier border around a diagram or chart. I can see how to insert a box around the tree, and there are basic formatting opti...

Saving diagram as...
I'd appreciate any guidance on this: I want to produce some small trees and save them as separate files for later insertion into a MS WORD document as a picture. I've done this before using Generations to good effect. However, with FH I can produce wonderfully sharp trees in pdf format, but none ...

Moving projects folder
Hi, On installation, the projects are stored in a new default folder called 'Family Historian Projects' in My Documents. I can see how to change the location for new projects via the Project Window, but if I want to move projects already created and stored in the default place, can I just move the...

V4 and previous custom queries etc
Thanks for the observations. I've downloaded V4 and everything went well. As a former 'Generations' user I really welcome the new focus window and layout.
As you indicated, Jane, the only thing I lost were some minor changes to the text of the diagrams e.g. where I had made the fonts bold.

V4 and previous custom queries etc
Hello. I'm about to upgrade to V4, after a year or so V3 use. Still only a novice, hence this question: When I upgrade, can I assume that the custom queries and text schemes that I've downloaded and imported will still be available, as well as the one query I managed to set up on my own from withi...
