Re: Loss of some data after Updates
Hello Mike, FH's latest update (to 7.0.18) came over the weekend and I was extremely careful to ensure I had made a full Project backup before letting the update proceed as well as making a screen grab of at least one individual's record showing no 'hints' on my screen. I am delighted to say that th...

Re: Loss of some data after Updates
Thanks Helen & Mike for the information. Yes, Mike, I just let FH itself do the updating and don’t uninstall the ‘old’ version. Thank you for your suggestion, I look forward to the next FH update so that I can follow it! I’ll let you know the outcome and, if I still have the problem, I'll report to ...

Re: Loss of some data after Updates
Thank you Brent and Mike, In reply: I run FH on a single PC. When FH indicates to me that an update is available, I implement it at once, after backing up the whole project. (I usually save the Data when closing the program and back up the whole Project routinely once a month as well.) When Internet...

Thanks everyone for the helpful and intriguing anecdotal replies.
I think I may go with the 'between dates' suggestion.
Cheers

Loss of some data after Updates
I routinely update FH when available, I am presently on V.7.0.15. I use the Internet Data Matches system and it is remarkably useful. However, I find that each time I apply a required update I seem to lose the fmp associated records in my Project and have to laboriously check and accept/decline all ...

Death date records - which should I believe?
Hello everyone, I have an anomaly and would welcome any opinions or advice. My paternal grandfather died in August 1942. His death certificate states that he died on 27th August 1942 - the same date that his death was registered. However, the headstone on his grave clearly states that he died on Aug...

Re: Edit Timeline Facts Dialogue
Thanks Mike,
'Learning all the time', to quote the late Benny Hill!
My original mistake was clicking on 'A' below and not 'B' as I should have - where I found the Option for Timeline Facts.
Thanks again and apologies for taking up your time.
Kind regards
Chris

Re: Edit Timeline Facts Dialogue
Thank you both, Helen and Mike. I don't know how I missed the appropriate cog menu button but I clicked on the one at top right rather than the correct one below the list of Facts. (I'd add a screenshot but I don't have permission)! My apologies for taking up your time and many thanks again. I can n...

Edit Timeline Facts Dialogue
Please can you help me with this. During research I sometimes find the facts for relatives clutter up the Facts list for individuals and wish to delete the relatives' facts. I have searched the Help info and it tells me that " The Select Timeline Facts Dialog allows you to specify which facts you wi...

Re: Is there a simple way to incorporate BMD data?
Thanks for the information Mike and David. I apologise for not acknowledging your help earlier. (As you may gather I tend to conduct my researches in 'fits and starts' so have only just got around to reading your replies!) I can see that I need to do a bit more searching of the forum and the Knowled...

Is there a simple way to incorporate BMD data?
Is there a simple way to incorporate BMD data in its own field rather than add it in the Notes Section?
In the birth record there are 'spaces' for date, age, place, address, note etc.
Is it possible to add a 'space' for BMD data : District; volume; page?
Any advice greatly appreciated, TIA
CJ

I have checked as in your message and can report the following: What does FH say in the very top window border Family Historian Gedcom or Family Historian Project? It say...

Reinstall after catastrophe!
I have been using FH since V.3. I have upgraded from V3>V4>V5>V6 and all the iterations in between. I have had to reinstall Windows 8.1 following PC problems and I can no longer locate the emails from CP relating to the upgrades. I do have all the license keys (I think!) for the upgrades. How...

Where is my project (.fh_proj) folder
(Apologies if this has been asked before but I can't find any info!) I have previously, probably within FH 4 or 5, started a 'book' under the 'Publish', 'Books' drop down tab but now I just get the message "This feature is only available within the context of a FH Project" . :? However, search as I ...

V5 Beta stopped working Error
Hmmmm. I have just tried to start FH Beta 5.0.0.7 only to get 'Error' messages '[frown]'. I notice that tatewise 's message query is almost 3 weeks old but there have been no responses. So, please, HAS it been timed out disabled? If so,then fair enough, but a little advice and help with reverting to...

Location of GED files
Hmm, probably a bit of a stupid question [oops], but can anyone tell me, please, where FH usually stores the data GEDcom when the program is closed? I have 'searched' my PC and found DOZENS of folders with similar names. I want to make sure (i) which folder to back up and (ii) which folders I may sa...
