WW 1 Records
I have just found my uncle in Ancestry's WW1 records. What I have found is a 15 page 'Disembodiment' paper. Can anyone tell me what the difference is between Disembodiment and discharge - he survived the war and was in the RAMC - the medical corps as a sergeant / staff sergeant. Much of his service ...

death notices
I got weird looks from an English friend the first time I talked about intimations in church. To him, all intimation meant was gossip. To me, it was what was said to be the church notices - i.e. fact, here in Scotland. I do not know what the meaning is elsewhere, but in Scotland it is used for serio...

PDAs

I find it useful when on a journey to use it to make lists of the facts I need to check, sources I need to verify and/or copy, etc. The screen size / resolution makes it hard to 'browse' or to see more than just a small segment of a family, but it is sti...

display living online, or not?
I know I am a minister, but I am also a Fellow of the British Computer Society, and it is on their advice that I do not publish living details online, or only to trusted people. The problem is that of identity theft - the standard bank security question is 'mother's maiden name' and that is (usually...

Gedcom Census v3 - Testers needed
I'd be willing to help. I don't have a huge no of census records to input, but I have found Gedcom Census very helpful; I worked in IT for 30 years before becoming a minister, so have some experience of beta testing.
