Starting afresh with v5.0
Thanks both for putting my mind straight! I've never been that good at understanding the workings of programmes and PCs (as you've probably gathered!) Apologies Nick for my 'basic mistake'... but what a superb resource Ancenstral Sources undoubtedly is! I'll do as suggested as I've clearly got plent...

Starting afresh with v5.0
Thanks so much for your kind, (and thought provoking!) messages Jane, Trevor and tatewise. I'll certainly have a re-think about splitting what I have... it's just that sharing with relatives (some current, some 'ex'!!) can be a little awkward at times! Your comment is really enlightening Jane... tha...

Starting afresh with v5.0
I have to admit I've hardly touched my tree these last few years (long story!). It's about 7000 strong and on v3.1 and the last thing I did was make a start with (that wonderful utility) Gedcom Census. Now I want to 'start afresh' with v5.0... and divide the tree into 6; one each for my parents and ...

Ancestral Sources - Baptisms
I've recently found several baptisms that were carried out 'privately'(with a date) and then followed by a later date when the child was 'entered into the church' or 'entered into the congregation'. Just thought I'd make mention in case this could influence 'the final product'.[rolleyes]

Undoing an existing person link
Silly me, I've inadvertently linked an existing person (as a child) to the wrong parents! I've put him with the right parents too thinking I could simply 'delete' my mistake, but I can't find a way to do it. Is there a way??? The link is a 'profound' one as it relates the whole of my side of the fa...

Conventional Wisdom
As a complete and utter novice... to genealogy as well as FH... I have everything to learn and seem to struggle over the 'simplest' of things... like currently, what to enter in the 'born' box when the date I have is of a christening. Is there a conventional way to filling it in??
