Re: Adding a generic source to FH7

In your screenshot, there is a cogwheel icon top right. Click that Menu and choose Customize Citation Window... . Top left ensure you choose Main (generic) or Main (template) depending on what type of Sources you use. Select the Text from Source on left and click > to move to the righthand Selected ...

Re: Source citation expansion [+] button

I have to be honest and credit Mark Draper with being the author of the Lumped Source Splitter plugin.

Do spend some time reviewing that mile-long list of UDFs. If you need any advice, just ask.

Re: Diagram Window: Box Views "Exploded"

May I correct some of your apparent misunderstandings without detracting from your feature requests? When choosing a Custom Diagram Type that also chooses its associated Text Scheme. You don't have to use the Diagram > Options > Text tab to choose the Text Scheme. The Quick Family Facts plugin can u...

Re: Plugin Export Gedcom File

There have been some 'novel' changes recently in the way FH imports facts from TMG. FH v6.2.7 did focus on the GEDCOM Tag defined in TMG, then FH v7.0.1 changed to focus on the Name, but FH v7.0.9 reverted back to focus on the GEDCOM Tag. So it depends when you imported from TMG which strategy was i...

Re: Addresses and commas after house numbers.

In the FHUG, we bash on about consistent data entry, yet it is one of my pet peeves that FH itself has many inconsistencies and this is one of them.

Re: Plugin Export Gedcom File

As I said, it is perfectly valid to have an event and an attribute with the same name. They can even be in the same Fact Set whether global or local. So this appears to be a GedSite implementation problem that John Cardinal should be able to fix. Do either of you actually use the FH exported Sentenc...

Re: Addresses and commas after house numbers.

Lorna, there are also all the other long-text fields such as Text From Source mentioned in the Help. It needs to be clarified how the Inc. [[private]] Notes option is applied in Diagrams, Reports, Export > GEDCOM File, et al, regarding all those long-text fields. Preferably the option should apply t...

Re: Adding a generic source to FH7

The line in the upper pane is not a Title but literally a summary drawn from the first line in the Text From Source field. If there were multiple Text From Source entries in the Source record and the Citaion that upper pane is a kind of index. The only way to change what appears in the upper pane is...

Re: BMD District, Sub-district and County.

Welcome to your first FHUG posting Stephen.

Crucial to answering this is whether you are using Generic or Templated Source records in FH.

If you use Templated Source records and the Source Templates have the Fields you requested then the answer is almost certainly 'YES'.

Re: Record Flags, Icons and Diagrams

In was wrong about using the =IsTrue(%INDI.DEAT.AGE% <= 5) The AGE field is quite complex and can include days, months, and years, optionally with less than or greater than conditions, or even special values such as Child or Infant. So testing the %INDI.DEAT.AGE% field is almost impossible without a...

Re: Plugin Export Gedcom File

Linda, you don't say, but I guess you are exporting to GedSite , as that is usually the only mode that includes the _FACT definitions that you posted. What exactly is the problem? Does GedSite not handle those Occupation definitions correctly? In that case, you should talk to John Cardinal the GedSi...

Re: Addresses and commas after house numbers.

FH Help Page Private Notes says that the [[private]] feature applies to Address and Text From Source fields, etc. So is the Inc. [[private]] Notes option in Diagrams implemented incorrectly with regard to Address fields? Is it a bug that needs reporting?

The flaw in your argument is the claim that "double square bracketing inhibits the enclosed information from appearing in "published" form". As I said earlier, it is a user's choice, as all Reports and Diagrams have an option to Inc. [[private]] Notes . So user's can choose to use the [[private]] fe...

Re: Diagram Text Schemes: Family of Variants

The discussion need go no further than to say that if unique fact id is deemed necessary by CP, then a Fact Id tag could be designed (such as _FACTID ) in the same way that _SENT, _SDATE, _SHAR, _SHAN & _FLGS have been created. Actually, the FH v7 Fact Flags _FLGS support <New Flag> custom values th...

Re: What if I am the Source?

Consider it from the perspective of somebody else viewing your family tree. They need to be able to use each Source Citation to ratify the facts claimed. If you are the source then it is your Oral Testimony, but in the Source don't fill in the {Hearer}. The templates then produce: Oral testimony of ...

Early death - where a child dies under 5 This hinges on how you have recorded those deaths. Have you used the Death Age field and with what values? Have you entered the Death Date and also the Birth Date? The sort of expressions are =IsTrue(%INDI.DEAT.AGE% <= 5) or =IsTrue(AgeAt(%INDI%,%INDI.DEAT.D...

Don't read too much into the word private . It simply means the text can be optionally included or excluded. All Reports and Diagrams have an option to Inc. [[private]] Notes . In the case of this thread the [[private]] brackets have a very specific purpose. They enclose labelled text so it is not i...

Re: Addresses and commas after house numbers.

True, but you could use =Section(%INDI.BIRT.ADDR%,1,"[[") to remove trailing [[text]]. In standard GEDCOM Place is not a record ~ it is an FH extension. So something similar could be applied to Address fields. It is unfortunate that did not happen and be integrated with Place records when they were ...

Re: Auto-Create Note

I'm not sure what you mean davidf.
Are you suggesting that it should not return anything?
[[private text]] is not unconditionally invisible but dependent on conditions which can include it or hide it and optionally remove the brackets. So what do mean by "honour" the brackets?
