Re: Indirect relationship
Try the =Relationship(...) function or =RelationCode(...) function but I'm not sure how they can be used to identify direct versus indirect relationships.

Re: Relationship expression
Unfortunately the %INDI% data reference does not work in the Sentence Template context and %CUR_PRIN% must be used. Also, the function needs to be enclosed in { curly brackets } . i.e. {=Relationship( Record(9999,"I"), %CUR_PRIN%, TEXT, 1 )} The full Sentence Template would then be: {%CUR_PRIN%} is ...

Tom, I cannot see much wrong with what is shown in your screenshots. I suspect you have been investigating folders that you have not inspected before! C:\Users\...\Documents\Family Historian Projects\ correctly holds your Project folders (and maybe some other stuff). The only entry that is a little ...

Re: Simple Citations Templates for Family Historian 7
IMO, you should consider two forms of Simple Citation Template for FH. The current template is very much a Simple Citations Lumper Template because so many details are in the Citation. In FH if there are multiple identical Citations derived from one Source there will be multiple copies of a lot of d...

OK, what confused me was you said that it "worked to get an icon for anyone that had a note".
So at some stage, you must have entered a valid expression and I thought that was the one with a missing comma.

Re: Help with an expression
I'd be interested to know how you managed to omit that comma.
If I do that and then click OK FH automatically inserts a comma.
I've tried all sorts of edits and either FH corrects the typo or says 'Expression not valid'.

Jim, it really helps us if you can provide the expression that does not work for you, otherwise we are working in the dark. You know what you used but we don't! Your original posting says you used the Expression =ContainsText( %INDI.BURI.NOTE%, "GPS", STD ) That is perfect except that the data refer...

They are called 'ribbons' that link two boxes which represent the same person. i.e. The content of those two boxes is exactly the same person but with two different relationships in your tree. It has two possible causes; either a valid marriage between 'cousins' means that some people have shared co...

The << Insert Data Ref... button is a feature of the << Add Condition > Expression dialogue. They are not mutually exclusive. For example, the button lets you insert a Data Reference into a Function parameter in the Expression . You will discover throughout FH that Expressions are used in many dialo...

To cater for the presumably rare case of holding a document copy where the original no longer exists, could another field convey the fact that it is a copy? Re: Source and Citation Text to Source Rich Text & Tables
I thought it relevant as PP is converting from V6 Generic Sources to V7 Templated Sources, has problems using Jane's plugin, is " spending an awful lot of time reformatting and trying to represent my current data in a better format " and requests pointers. However, I accept that the process may have...

Re: Simple Citations Templates for Family Historian 7

Repository (Unique Item) is optional plain text that is prefixed before Primary Repository in the Footnote. Primary Repository is the linked Repository record and appears in the Footnote. Your So...

Re: List of Parishs
Klaus, the parish names probably appear in your Place records. So to find those parish names we need to know your Place record naming format. What are the comma-separated parts in your Place names? e.g. town, parish, county, country where Parish is in the 2nd comma-separated part. Use Tools > Work w...

Re: Linking or moving media
That is a nice idea but there are more than two options. For example, when I add new media from a file the Copy File(s) to: drop-list options are: <Don't copy - link only> <Default Location within Project Folder> i.e. \Media\ Census i.e. \Media\Census\ Certificates i.e. \Media\Certificates\ Places i...

Re: customize property box with named lists
Bev, perhaps an explanation is necessary of why it is not currently possible. Each field in a Property Box custom tab is currently restricted to a Data Reference that is local to the current record. That is fine for Record Flags that are a sub-field of an Individual Record, i.e. %INDI._FLGS.__...% H...

Sorry, despite its name, there is no 'automation' available within Autotext. It only automates the insertion of plain text.
To perform any 'automation' such as inserting a Date will require a Plugin to be written.

Welcome to the FHUG Jim. Reading between the lines, I guess you are using the Diagram > Options > Boxes tab to set a Condition Expression for an Icon feature.
