The OP says Email was dated 21 February which would have been FH V7.0.2.

The fewer facts and details you include then I suspect it is less likely that matches will be forthcoming.
Also, beware about putting living people details online.

Re: Source Short Title change?

Welcome to the FHUG . When you refer to the Source list do you mean the Records Window Sources tab? Drag the divider between the Source Records column header and the next column to the right to make the column wider. If you know any of the name you are looking for then enter it in the Title/Short Ti...

Re: Source / Citation / Media errors - helping with reorganising

The "Civil Registration Index" template is one of the few using Method 2 'lumper' technique which is why it has so many Citation specific Details. There should only be one Source record for the "England and Wales Birth Registration Index" with the specific details of each entry in the Citations. Ma...

Re: Crossed out media

The crossed rectangles means that FH cannot locate the Media file with the Filename and Location in the Media folder. When you double-click, just above the pane that says 'File not found', it shows the File: name in red and Location. If you click the red name it offers ways to try and find that 'mis...

Re: Source / Citation / Media errors - helping with reorganising

Welcome to the FHUG Sam. You may find it more efficient to use Ancestral Sources (AS) but you need to start from scratch with each document because AS creates the Source record with attached Media as well as the Citations and Facts. If you are using the Method 1 'splitter' approach then the Media sh...

Re: k, v -- can't see the forest for the trees

If every entry in tbl is itself a table then tbl[k] and v are one of these tables such as {a, b, c, table, table, table} So for that particular k instance effectively rtx = wtrent( {a, b, c, table, table, table} ) is being performed. If function wtrent( ) changes its parameter values then the conten...

Re: Export Gedcom File plugin options

So the Keep Source Template option should be OK as that keeps all metafields in one format, i.e. FH custom _FIELDS tag format. I guess that would be just as straightforward as handling the labelled Note text produced by the Move to Note Record option. See https://pluginstore.family-historian.co.uk/p...

Re: W10 upgrade broke my FH7?

It is not usually necessary to uninstall FH in order to re-install FH. Try the download from https://www.family-historian.co.uk/install7 which is FH V7.0.3 and the latest approved version. When performing the re-install right-click the installation executable and choose Run as administrator even if ...

What about Methods A , B & C ? or some other designation?

The concepts of Method 1 and Method 2 have spread far further than just AS.
They are well defined in the KB and have been for many years.

Re: Ribbon report/query?

Whether a duplicate ribbon appears in a Diagram Chart will depend on who is the Diagram Root Person or Couple and how many Generations are included. So any list will only identify those who might have a duplicate ribbon. I think the standard Query for Relations and 5 Nearest Relationships should com...

Re: FH7 Narrative Report conversion from FH6

Ah! In that context I see that there are three methods, but might that be in conflict with the splitter/lumper Methods 1 & 2?
Would some other word such as Mode or Strategy or Tactic be clearer?
I think AS has effectively been offering that Source driven mode all along.

Re: k, v -- can't see the forest for the trees

Yes, rtx = wtrent( tbl[k] ) is sending the value v because tbl[k] is the value v
So rtx = wtrent( v ) is exactly the same.

Re: Bibliography Citation-specific Metafields

Mark, arthurk clearly stated that he would be converting his 'lumped' generic Source Citations into 'splitter' templated Source Citations, so that would allow any new restructuring that is necessary. With templated Sources, the Title is derived from the metafields just as is the Bibliography. If you...

arthurk, you can combine them into a single entry in a Bibliography (e.g. "1851 census", with or without Ancestry, etc) simply by omitting the finer details from the Bibliography Format template. Helen, how do you know it would be "a fairly significant architectural change"? It would appear to be no...

Adrian, if FH were to allow Bibliography to include Citation-specific fields (like Access Date) you are not forced to use it. Re: Add media to source via drop on tab

Ah! That makes all the difference. There is no blue-bordered drop zone when you use that procedure. Dropping on that unopen tab is the same as dropping almost anywhere in FH. It just creates a Media record. With the Media tab open, when you drag & drop, there is a very bold blue rectangular border a...
