Re: Viewing and editing citations

There is the long-established Where Used Record Links plugin that with one or many selected Source records lists all the Citations with useful indicators for identifying duplicates. See the Help page Where Used Record Links that explains the details provide for Citations. There are other plugins and...

Re: Viewing and editing citations

I imagine what you are really asking for is a Source Citation Window rather than modify the Records Window Sources tab.
i.e. Similar to the Media Window or Map Window that are separate from the Records Window Media and Places tabs and have added features.

Re: Merging part of an Ancestry file with FH6

What are your plans to prevent such a catastrophe from happening again? There are regular postings here and in the Email forum about backup strategies and users who have suffered crashes. I am always gobsmacked that anyone does not have a backup regime. See FHUG Knowledge Base Backup and Recovery ad...

Re: A census query - Couples living apart

You say you left off the second "is true" as it appeared that fh didn't like it.
"is true" is the only Operator that FH will accept in the line below that Expression.
It is not part of the Expression in the same way that "matches", "contains" & "is null" are also Operators.

Re: Root Person

In FH v6 that is exactly what happens. FH v6 always opens with the File Root person in focus in the Focus Window. Maybe you have upgraded to FH v7 but overlooked updating your FHUG Forum Profile that still says V6. Click your username and navigate to Edit profile, change the Family Historian version...

Re: Issue with Lumped Source Splitter

There is already open CP ticket 'Plugin issues with large Projects' #381229 dated June'21 that I've raised on this problem. It seems to be related to garbage memory management in Lua that is much more sluggish in v5.3 than v5.1 was. See the FHUG Plugin Discussions postings: 18417|Export Gedcom / FH7...

Understanding Projects

The Understanding Projects page needs the following updates for FH v7. The first two paragraphs need rewriting as follows: Projects were introduced in ƒh Version 4, so if you are updating to a later ƒh version or migrating from another product, it is advisable to read and understand what projects ar...

Re: Using a named list to add a fact to each indi in the list

Yes, that mistake exists in the original 'Create and Update Ancestor and Descendant Counts' plugin script. Paul, your plugin does not need the initial warning message about " ... create/update facts containing counts ... " because it does not update those counts but creates '1820 Lineage' attributes...

Re: Book and Web Format

Welcome to the FHUG. I'm not quite sure what you mean by " input every thing in book/web format ". Certainly, FH does not support entering family history data like that. FH requires you to create database records for each Individual and add their historical Facts such as Birth, Baptism, Marriage, Ce...

Re: Change "Generic Type" for specific source records

Yes Nicola, use the Search and Replace plugin. Set the Search Scope to Source Records (SOUR). Use the Select Records button to choose the subset of Source records that need changing. That can employ a Named List. On the Extra Filters tab, ensure that only the Type fields for Source records option on...

OK, run the same Query, but when prompted, enter the address you want to check instead of the town. If necessary you can include the town with the address separated by whatever commas are necessary. The %INDI.CENS[1].PLAC>% contains ["prompt"] Expression is not looking specifically for a town but ju...

When the plugin is running for several minutes is there any display output indicating progress? If the plugin does not interact via FH with Windows in any way, the OS thinks FH has gone d...

Re: Generic Source Type in FH7

I think you want the Generic Type field for Templated Sources to continue to hold the same values as your old Generic Sources, so the top two records in your screenshot would have values in Generic Type cells. The way to achieve that is to display the Generic Type field in the Templated Source recor...

Here is my data entry below.
Where is the Help advice on the YYYY code? I could only find the :YEAR qualifier.
Why does " ... the Year {DT-DATE}" display the full date correctly but the :YEAR qualifier does not work?

Re: Possible Source Driven Data entry bug for Baptism

Helen, I can repeat those symptoms. The Autotext Plugin ends that line with " ... the Year YYYY" i.e. YYYY is literal text. I was expecting some form of field code with a YEAR qualifier, e.g. ... the Year {DT-DATE:YEAR} I tried editing the plugin with that and it produced no year display. I removed ...
