Re: Export Gedcom File Tweaks

I will revist that TNG _KEYS to _TYPE conversion to see if the Note can be eliminated, perhaps in the special case when the only Keyword is the one entered against the _TYPE tag.

Re: Name and name 2 on Main Tab of Property box

I have moved this to the FH General Usage Forum that is more appropriate. Does your Property Box have two Name boxes on the Main tab as shown below? Only the top Name box is defined by default. You must use cog Menu > Customize Data Entry to add the other. The top box shows Primary Name (%INDI.NAME[...

Re: Same name Individual and Family Fact types

The only danger is that the two facts with the same name may get confused. However, you can mitigate that after defining the two facts by assigning each one a different Label and Abbreviation . Alternatively, you could migrate the custom Family facts to be two Individual facts for husband & wife. Th...

Re: DayNumber inversion?

Remember CalcDate and DayNumber all work with date points so date is actually a date-point object.
So you need a date object to receive the date-point and then you can display the date:

long = fhNewDate()
long:SetSimpleDate(date)
text = long:GetDisplayText('LONG')

Welcome to the FHUG Bill. Firstly, there is a full migration guide at how_to:family_historian_migration_guide|> Family Historian V5 & V6 Migration Guide . It is best to upgrade to FH v6.2 and AS v5.3 on your old PC first and then migrate to the new PC. Review the guide, which deals with issues migra...

I did say early on that there is no DayNumber inversion function and the thread should have ended there.

Re: DayNumber inversion?

That documentation is for the DayNumber() function and perfectly describes how the DayNumber is calculated if the Day or Month are unspecified in the Date supplied but implies nothing about how Dates are handled in any other functions. However, where the documentation is misleading is it says the pa...

It would be better to save an FH Full Backup of the Project and then More Tasks > Delete Project altogether, so it just exists in your Backup folder rather than comprise the FH Project structures.

Re: DayNumber inversion?

Ron, there is no inverse DayNumber function, so no point discussing that. Please explain what you are trying to achieve. You talk about "DayNumber will calc from 1-1 if not present" but don't know what you mean. If the Date is not present then DayNumber returns nil . What two birds are you trying to...

Re: DayNumber inversion?

I don't think there is such an inverse function, but assuming you are starting from a known Date and not just a random integer, then the CalcDate(...) function might work for you. e.g. local newdate = fhCallBuiltInFunction( 'CalcDate', bd:GetDatePt1(), 0, 0, -280 ) But that only works when the Date ...

Hi Adrian. What genealogy product are you exporting to? If it is likely to be of interest to others then I might be able to design specific options for that product. The Move to Note & _TYPE (TNG) option does not behave the way you think (see the Help & Advice for TNG formats). It only puts the firs...

Re: Natural Events

Yes, an Individual custom Attribute (rather than Event ) named Natural Event would work. An Attribute is only different from an Event in that it has a 'value' like Occupation, Education, Possession. So the 'value' would describe the natural event and be included in Sentence Templates using the {valu...

Re: Introducing myself and a little (or maybe big) question

Nothing that Victor says suggests he is saving a Census image per person. I suspect the Name in the Title is just the Head of household (or some other key person), not that he has a Source record person, and even if he did that still does not imply an image per person. I use the same strategy as the...

There are a number of possible options. Firstly, keep all your Projects in the Family Historian Projects folder, which is what it is for.
