Re: Backup and Restore Plug-In

The Backup and Restore Family Historian Settings Plugin Version 2.9 Date 26 May 2020 in the Plugin Store now does not usually alter the Date modified on any Backup folders. It also recognises when a user chooses the Family Historian folder within the Backup folder, which is a popular mistake. So it ...

Re: Google Drive for FH Backups and Projects

OK, I have been investigating Google Storage usage via Google search and got some answers. So visit https://one.google.com/storage and it will list a breakdown of usage for Google Drive , Gmail & Google Photos . If it is Google Photos that is using Storage , you can reduce it to zero by visiting htt...

Re: Media format (jpg or jpeg)

Strictly speaking, GEDCOM 5.5 1996 only allows the Format values: bmp | gif | jpeg | ole | pcx | tiff | wav So FH usually prefers jpeg so I cannot explain why it got set to jpg . However, things have moved on since 1996 and most products allow many more file extensions. As you say, it does not reall...

Re: Marking and connecting DNA relatives

Welcome to the FHUG Rick.

If you use the Search... box top right and enter DNA it will list a great many associated discussions.
I advise you tick Year of Posting for 2020 and 2019 to get only recent ideas.

I am sure others will give more specific advice.

Re: Deleting Media?

Ok, update the personal photos by all means, but why not keep the existing ones as a historical record? Not only can they be prioritised, but also hidden from all but the Media tab of the Individual Property Box . What about all the "census images or birth/marriage/death certificates"? Presumably, t...

Re: Deleting Media?

Welcome to the FHUG Peter. Your analysis is correct. If you move or delete media files that are external to your Project folder then FH will lose track of where they are located and put X broken link icons in their place. That is why it is advisable to copy media files into the Media folder within t...

Re: Google Drive for FH Backups and Projects

Yes, E:\Documents\Family Historian Projects adjacent to E:\Documents\Google Drive is just perfect :D

Leave the Google Drive app to synchronise E:\Documents\Google Drive with My Drive online for a few hours.
Hopefully, then it will become clear what is consuming the 7.8 GB of storage.

Re: Messed up dates

Rod, what is your interest? The crux of Kim's problem was that the "messed up dates" were not spotted until many imported GEDCOM had been merged into one master Project . It is important to import and review any new GEDCOM in a Project of its own before merging. However, this dual year date treated ...

I second that.
If FH V6 was worth recommending last year, then it is still worth recommending now, regardless of where FH V7 is in the pipeline. Who knows what Covid-19 issues Calico Pie are facing? Let us hope they are not serious.

Yes, that is correct, because the Minister and both Witnesses have been derived from the Marriage Certificate Source , so those three Fact Witness entries need Citations . I thought you wanted to keep data off the C: SSD and just use it for the Windows OS ? So should the OneDrive folder of data files really be at E:\My Documents\OneDrive ? If so, then create your Google folder at E:\My Documents\Google Drive . We can move the OneDrive folder alongside later.

Comments on David's points:- 1. Lumping everyone on one sheet together has two scenarios where care needs to be taken: Where a single household schedule spans the end of one sheet and the start of another, or even several sheets. To discover members of one household linked to a sheet (or multiple sh...
