Re: Media frame links on export...

Please can you go into a bit more detail? Are you saying you have regularly used the Export Gedcom File plugin for TNG and successfully uploaded Media? However, the last time you went through the same process the Media did not upload. If you've used the plugin regularly you'll know it exports the GE...

Re: pattern matching

Ah! Now I understand.

local rr = rtvRLT(ptr)
local husb = string.match(rr.RLT, 'husband.+(husband)')
local wife = string.match(rr.RLT, 'wife.+(wife)')

i.e. the pattern requires the word then any characters .+ and finally captures 2nd (word) if it exists.

Re: Making sensible selections

If FH can work out the age then so can you. The Project data must have the Date of Birth of the person for FH to determine the age. The event date is known to you. So the age within a year or two is the event date year minus the Date of Birth year. That seems too straightforward, so I must have misu...

Re: pattern matching

You are correct ~ I don't understand. You did not say you were using the Relationship() function. How was I supposed to guess that? I don't see where there is the 2nd instance of a wife. Your mother has two instances of a husband. You will need to explain in more detail what you are trying to achiev...

Re: Given names and Surnames

FH does not use the Given and Surname fields. They only exist for GEDCOM 5.5 compatibility. FH only uses the Name field to determine Given /Surname/ details. If you check the Name > more (+)... details then Given and Surname are not offered. They only exist on the All tab. Those fields would have be...

Re: pattern matching

Pattern matching is not the solution. It is just like all the earlier discussions about 'instances'. i.e. An Individual's 1st Occupation is INDI.OCCU[1] and their 2nd Occupation is INDI.OCCU[2] So an Individual's 1st Spouse is INDI.FAMS[1]>WIFE> and 2nd Spouse is INDI.FAMS[2]>WIFE> or there is the s...

Re: family information fractured; how to combine?

It sounds like you have accidentally created a second Family record for the parents and the brother. Those two Family records need to be merged. So in the Records Window open the Families tab to list all the Family records. (If you don't have a Families tab use View > Record Lists > Families or use ...

Re: Diagram Box Size

In the Diagram Options dialogue, there is a Save as default tick box bottom left. If ticked, that will save whatever settings you chose, including the Box tab shadow, for all the standard Diagram types. It is ticked by default, so I suspect you will find your box shadows are gone now. However, it is...

Re: Removing unneeded broken media links

I think I can explain how you got the two alternative apostrophes. The single prime ' is the basic ASCII keyboard symbol and used in the St Mary's variant. If you hold that key down too long then FH offers the alternative ’ which is the UTF-8 Unicode symbol in the St Mark’s variant. I have repeated ...

Re: Associated Individuals and Witness Roles

Yes, it is the Informant roles that cause most problems for users, and I understand the pros & cons around informants. Ideally, Calico Pie might be persuaded to include them by default? Yes, removing the other ones not defined in FH is another option. Some users have commented that many of them are ...

Re: Removing unneeded broken media links

I wonder if running in 'Parallels' is the explanation. The plugin has to take special action if a media filename contains any UTF-8 characters. That involves a Command Prompt script that maybe 'Parallels' does not support. Is it possible that the 'apostrophe' in the filename in St Mark ' s Hull is n...

It is probably unwise to be adding new data via such as AS until you have a 'clean' copy of the imported Project data.

Hi Mal, That has really got me foxed, so could you answer a few questions. Are all your other media files in the Project's Media folder, or are they elsewhere ? Does the folder path to your Project or the Project name itself include an unusual character such as % ? There is only one scenario that mi...

Associated Individuals and Witness Roles

Nick, from time to time users enter Associated Individuals via AS and then in FH discover strangely worded facts because FH has no matching Witness Roles, and then post here for advice. The most common cases are the Birth & Death Informant Roles, but there are several more as documented in the ances...

I don't think it is possible to display quarter dates like that. Welcome to the FHUG Mal. In the Result Set that lists the broken link, double-click on the Media record with the paper clip icon. First of all check File > Backup/Restore > Revert to Snapshot to see if any pre-date the rogue branch. If that turns out to be unsatisfactory, you can try another Snapshot, or retur...

Re: Ancestor/Descendant/Pedigree Charts

Sorry, there is no simple tick box for that particular option. Part of the problem is that without an accurate Date of Birth no 'age at event' can be calculated anyway. Also, each fact needs an accurate Date defined to perform that calculation. If it is primarily 'age at death' you need then for eac...

Re: Delete unwanted Records
