Re: PDF and Images for Medium to Large Diagrams

See how_to:creating_a_single_page_pdf_of_a_diagram|> Single Page PDF of a Diagram that explains techniques for reducing the number of pages so the Diagram fits on one PDF page. FH itself does NOT ever produce PDF at all. It entirely relies upon PDF creator printer drivers. The Family Historian PDF i...

Re: IUP scroll bars v and h

As I said in another thread, see Knowledge Base > IUP GUI Builder References where it states that FH V6 uses IUP 3.11.2 whereas IupPlot (since 3.12) is only in a later version.

So you have to use IupPPlot which has different callbacks.

Re: Media Files to Ancestry

The first thing to check is the copyright of that picture of Walter. It is covered by the Terms and Conditions 5. Content Used in the Services at https://www.ancestry.com/cs/legal/termsandconditions#ContentUsed . Do you have the right to publish it online? My understanding is that you will have to u...

Re: Census versus Residence

I guess you mean Tools > Ancestral Sources Data Entry ? Just two clicks. You know that you don't have to close AS to save every Census record. You can use Save Entry to File and remain in AS to capture Census after Census for as long as you like. Once AS knows which Project you are using, you can in...

Re: Media Files to Ancestry

Few (if any) online family tree products offer a way of uploading Media in bulk. In most cases, it will involve a manual process of either uploading one image at a time, or as you propose adding a URL one at a time. Are you aware of the Export Gedcom File Plugin that transforms the FH GEDCOM into a ...

Re: Census versus Residence

Assuming those Residence facts have the appropriate USA Census date recorded in their Date field, then the Change Any Fact Tag plugin can quickly change them all to Census Events while retaining all the citations, etc. See plugins:help:change_any_fact_tag:change_any_fact_tag|> Change Any Fact Tag Pl...

Re: Help with custom Census Autotext format

Unfortunately, your screenshots are not comparing like for like, and Ancestry isn't meeting the AS objective of a transcript mimicking the original Census record. How would Ancestry represent the transcript for the two people Nancy and Etheldred Sorrell? The {GRID} keyword is the only way to include...

But that does not sort out your redundant Residence facts.
Change Any Fact Tag probably can do that and would be best done before using AS.

See Knowledge Base > Finding where Records are used for all the ways to find where records are used.

Re: IUP scroll bars v and h

Firstly, you are mixing up the documentation for the two plot libraries: https://webserver2.tecgraf.puc-rio.br/iup/en/ctrl/iup_plot.html is iup.plot built into iup. http://underpop.online.fr/i/iup/en/ctrl/iup_pplot.html is iup.pplot that you are using. Second, as it says in Selection and Editing , y...

Re: Census versus Residence

I am aware of the unconventional Ancestry preference for using Residence facts instead of Census events. It is unconventional because Residence is an attribute not an event, and Census records do not necessarily identify a person's residence, but only where they happen to be located on that particul...

Take a look at the Export Gedcom File Plugin with either https://www.heredis.com/en/ or https://www.rootsmagic.com/ both of which offer good GEDCOM support and run on both Windows and Mac with integrated iOS and Android apps. That is NOT a GEDCOM file, but a Plugin Result Set (similar to a Query Result Set) summarising the conversion rule details as explained in Knowledge Base > Export Gedcom File ~ Result Set.

Re: Export Gedcom File - plugin [Solved]

No, if you choose Close Memo then the Plugin exported GEDCOM should NOT open in FH . I cannot explain how that would happen, so can you try again and see if it is repeatable. ( BTW: The original File > ... Export > GEDCOM File FH version will remain open. ) As long as FH is only open fleetingly (les...

Re: Named list disappearing

As FH wasn't the last application used it doesn't always recognise that the data has changed and give the message to reload. Re: Ancestry says 'no'

Colin, the File > Import/Export > Export > GEDCOM File command does NOT use an Export folder by default.
You may be thinking of the Plugin that does use an Export folder.
But they are all only defaults and can be changed to whatever folder you prefer.

Re: Dealing with MAP, LATI/LONG in import GEDCOM

A variant is to ensure that only the trailing comma separated parts are consistent. ...

Carol, I suspect you are trying to export the Carol's Family Tree.ged GEDCOM file embedded within the FH Project structure for Carol's Family Tree . Re: Dealing with MAP, LAT1/LONG in import GEDCOM

One issue to consider is that the RM MAP data is associated with the Address . Whereas, FH Place name record mapping ignores the Address . So taking your example screenshot, only Pike, Alabama, United States will get mapped to Lat/Longitude. If there are multiple Address values for any one Place nam...
