Re: I have duplicates that I'm having trouble merging

I'm not sure where to start. To get into FH study how_to:key_features_for_newcomers|> Key Features for Newcomers . That gives Documentation & Tutorials and explains Projects and much more... Maybe you have just opened the GEDCOM file instead of using File > Project Window > New Project . how_to:...

I suspect you need to use:
P_S.MARR.HUSB.AGE and P_S.MARR.WIFE.AGE to match GEDCOM structure.

Re: I have duplicates that I'm having trouble merging

As Jane tried to explain it is probably NOT the Individual records that are duplicated. If those ' duplicates ' both have same [Record Id] then they are NOT duplicated. They are linked to two Family records as if they have been married twice. You have not described how you incorporated the new Ances...

I would NOT want the image to be shown only after selection. I want to confirm I've chosen the correct image before committing to right-hand list. Re: Changed name of project - bit of a mess

Janine, the advice given by Brent is excellent. But how did you copy your FH Projects to the new PC? You only mentioned GEDCOM files but the Projects consist of much more. Did you follow all the advice in how_to:family_historian_migration_guide|> Family Historian V5 & V6 Migration Guide and in a...

Re: Using FH program on my laptop and computer

I guess you are referring to the Project named Rowland Fam desktop latest ? So you have decided to temporarily lose that Project 's data added to the laptop. It can be added back later, either from your memory, or by consulting the backup. I assume the Bowen Family is unaffected by updates since las...

Re: Showing adoptive parents

Where an Individual has multiple Parents family ( FAMC ) links, then only the 1st instance of such parents as listed on the All tab will be shown in the Focus Window > Ancestors tab and within Diagrams . That is regardless of whether they are birth or adoptive/foster parents, and any associated Date...

Re: I have duplicates that I'm having trouble merging

I have moved this to the FH General Usage Forum because it is nothing to do with Research . It is not clear where you imported the GEDCOM from and exactly what commands you used. It sounds like you may have exported from Ancestry , but I am guessing. But in that case checkout the how_to:import_from_...

Re: Name titles and prefixes

You ask " What is a Modeless Dialog? " but the Help you got that from does explain. A Dialog is any window used to communicate (I.e. have a dialogue) with a PC. A Modeless window can stay open while you continue to use the underlying program. Whereas, a Modal window inhibits the underlying...

Re: Using FH program on my laptop and computer

OK, we are now making great progress, but can you see that by omitting the \OneDrive\ master folder from your original posting forced me to double-check those paths, which turned out to be unnecessary. So now we know that OneDrive is working perfectly on both PC and FH is using the folders correctly...

Re: Using FH program on my laptop and computer

That OneDrive master root folder is absolutely correct and the OneDrive app is running OK. So on both PC, can you open the OneDrive documents subfolder, and within that a Family Historian Projects folder so that the path box above shows: OneDrive > OneDrive documents > Family Historian Projects If y...

Re: Julian date entry

No, I think AS only supports the default Gregorian calendar.
You can enter double dates such as 10 Feb 1713/14 but cannot choose any of the calendars Julian, Hebrew or French.

So you will have to enter the date without the Julian prefix and change it when back in FH.

Re: Using FH program on my laptop and computer

OK, this may take several steps to get sorted out. First we must establish if OneDrive is running and on what folder. Start with the laptop: What version of Windows are you running on laptop ( 7, 8.1, 10 ) ? Is the OneDrive cloud icon shown in the Notification area bottom right ? If so, then left-cl...

Re: non-complex table on the fly.

I think what you are looking for is: tblRMN = tblRMN or {} which tests if tblRMN is defined or simply nil and in the letter case defines it as a table {} . So if tblRMN is defined then it performs the self-assignment tblRMN = tblRMN that does nothing. Otherwise, when tblRMN is undefined, it defines ...

I assume the Location on both PC is actually: C:\Users\.......\OneDrive\Documents\Family Historian Projects i.e. There is a backslaxh \ between OneDrive and Documents . I guess that ptrLink:IsSame(ptrSOUR) is a typo and should be ptrLink:IsSame(ptrSRC) ? ptrSRC is pointing to a record, which by definition has no parent, so ptrWork:MoveToParentItem(ptrSRC) will always set ptrWork to NULL. I presume you just need to return ptrSRC Yes, return fhNewItemPtr() will retur...
