Possible Problem Set Ignore Report Markers
Hi Forum
Sorry - but it is not obvious to me how you set/or clear an Ignore Marker. Can someone please explain. I have both Plug-Ins, just need some guidance.
Thanks

Re: Possible Problem Set Ignore Report Markers
I think you hold down Ctrl key as you select each one to toggle on or off.
However, there are often ways of mitigating most such warnings by making other adjustments to such as the Tools > Preferences > Estimates.

Thank you Mike
I'll test that out and check my settings as you suggest.

Re: Possible Problem Set Ignore Report Markers
David, please be more descriptive.
Are you running the Plugins in a Project or on a Gedcom?
The Possible Problem Report Plugin will work on either, but Possible Problem Set Ignore Markers only works on Projects.
I have just run the Possible Problem Set Ignore Markers Plugin Version 1.1 Date July 2011 with a selected Individual.
It has Clear All Marks at the top, with all the facts listed below.
Clicking Clear All Marks clears all blue, highlighted, marked, facts.
Otherwise, hold down the Ctrl key on keyboard and click each fact.
Blue highlighted ones are cleared, and clear ones become highlighted.
Selecting one fact, and hold down Shft key, while selecting another, will highlight all in between.
It is just like any other standard Windows list selection feature.

Hi Mike
Strange - I'll try again, I am using this within a Project.

Hi Mike
I have figured it out now. Although not entirely intuitive.
Thanks for your help.

Re: Possible Problem Set Ignore Report Markers
Please explain why not entirely intuitive.
It uses the standard list selection mechanism used throughout Windows since forever, with a hint about Ctrl key at the top.
But you should be able to eliminate most of the Date Warnings by making suitable adjustments.
Those Plugins were mainly applicable when Date Warnings were first introduced so you could review & adjust legacy data.
They are largely redundant now and subsumed by the Show Project Statistics Plugin.

Re: Possible Problem Set Ignore Report Markers
Hi Mike
The Possible Problem Report Plug-In runs for all individuals - but filtered by the All, Un-Ignored Only, Ignored Only selection.
The Possible Problem Set Ignore Report Marker only works per one Individual, the Plug-In description does not make that clear. It is not mentioned anywhere so you are led to think it is also working for all Individuals. So then it doesn't marry up with the result from the PPR report leaving you wondering what it is doing.

Re: Possible Problem Set Ignore Report Markers
I see what you mean, but in mitigation those Plugins are nearly 6 years old, and written in the beta-test phase before FH V5 was even released, so they are a bit primitive by current standards, and probably should be retired. As I said, they were a quick fix for legacy Projects whose data would not have been subjected to the new Date Warnings added in FH V5.
If you are performing a general review of your data, I would advise using the Show Project Statistics Plugin instead, as it covers a lot more ground and allows classes of exceptions to be conditionally excluded rather than mark specific facts.
In the case of Date Warnings, usually the facts can be corrected, or the Tools > Preferences > Estimates revised such that there are few if any warnings to conceal.

Re: Possible Problem Set Ignore Report Markers
Okay Mike - very helpful.
Yes I am reviewing everything I have done since coming over from TMG. In fact no more new data entry until this is complete. Hence the Best Practice questions in other threads elsewhere in the Forum. I don't want a repeat of what I found I had done unknowingly for many years in TMG.
I will look into the Project Statistics Plug-In.
David

Yes, in the how_to:index#importing_to_family_historian|> Importing to Family Historian section there is a list of generic advisory topics including the how_to:check_project_statistics_exceptions|> Check Project Statistics & Exceptions advice.
