* Exporting a Gedcom file to Family Search

Importing from another genealogy program? This is the place to ask. Questions about Exporting should go in the Exporting sub-forum of the General Usage forum.

Exporting a Gedcom file to Family Search

Post by janefrances »

I would like to export part of my family tree to Family Search, however I don't at this stage wish to include the photo's and documents that I have. Not sure just how to go about this?

For instance, would I have to use the Split Tree Helper first or is there another way to get part of my tree uploaded to FS

Thanks in advance

See how_to:exporting_gedcom_with_multimedia|> Exporting a Family Tree with Multimedia for the general technique, but for the Media Records option select Exclude such that all Media are omitted.

I am not sure exactly what dialect of GEDCOM that Family Search prefers.
You can experiment with options in the Export Gedcom File Plugin after creating your subset with the above technique.
If you gain any insight into what FS likes, or does not like, then let me know and I can add specific options to the Plugin.
