Familysearch site to be unavailable Mon 27 June

Post by LornaCraig »

I have just received this from another genealogy group.
I am posting it here in case FHUG members are not aware:
In case there are any who have not heard, the entire familysearch.org website and associated functions will be shut down and completely unavailable on Monday 27 June 2016. This is because of a major technical upgrade that will greatly increase the speed and capacity of the website.

As use has increased dramatically in the past while, there have been slow-downs, page freezes, and other frustrating problems that they hope to eliminate by this change and increased capacity.

The shut-down will begin shortly after midnight, (by 0030 MDT), which is 0730 GMT. The duration of the outage is not expected to last longer than 24 hours, including the changeover and then testing the system, but it will affect all functions and areas. Many local Family History Centers will close on Monday, because of the unavailability of the entire familysearch.org website, including records database, Family Tree, indexing and any other functions. They hope to have everything up and running on the new platform by 0700 GMT on Tuesday, 28 June 2016.
